An excellent trail for those adventurers seeking a bit of a challenge with excellent scenery.

This park is close to our house so we frequently hike the trails here. Great for our small kids and the dog. Not difficult trails. Most are easy and a few moderate. Clean park.

It's a nice park except for the fact they charge $7.00 for parking. Would've been cool to know that before driving all the way out here.

Lower bridge was washed out.

An interesting trail that starts off going down a large hill and over a bridge into an old resort abandoned during the Great Depression. There are many artifacts and descriptive signs, making his a different outing.

pretty great trail over all :)
my dog loved it also the trail offered some great back grounds for pictures

Fun trail, esp if you drop by Rose Island :)

This hike is really neat! We actually went across and ventured Rose Island. While doing this trail you might as well go check it out. Really neat and historic. As far as trail 3 goes it is a fun hike with great views.

Nice trail to walk dog.

Good crisp morning hike- I️ carried my backpack just to get back in shape after not going for a couple months! We didn’t hurry but the hills
Give you a good workout!

This trail was a nice walk through the woods nothing too strenuous and beautiful views at the overlook about halfway point. Good for beginners and medium seasoned hikers.

Took this trail this morning. Half way you will come to an overlook of the 14 mile creek that runs off the Ohio River. Nice trail.

A beautiful trail with enough rock formations and waterfalls to keep you wondering what gem you'll find around the next bend. Just watch out for spider webs constructed across entire widths of the trail...learned that one the hard way.

Nice short hike I do on the regular. Great view of some waterfalls on the decent. Didn’t like how a lot of the trail was right next to roads even if they were lightly traveled access roads within the state park.

We took our 5 year old and 2 7 year olds on this hike. They did great. The best part is the waterfall and ravine you get to cross twice. The flatland along the river is dull. Not as many views of the river as I would have expected. Maybe more in the winter.

good hiking trail withe some very nice views.

Nice paved trail until you get to the island. My 6 and 3 year old girls did fine on the steep hill. would like to come back in the fall and experience the eerieness in the dark. lots of history here.

Trail starts on a steep asphalt road used by park vans to provide ADA access to Rose Island. At the bottom of the hill, cross the old Portersville vehicle bridge to hike Trail #7, which is a short, flat loop through the historic Rose Island Amusement Park site. Nice views of Fourteenmile Creek and the Ohio River, plus good interpretive information on Rose Island. Back on Trail #3, trail gets narrow as it heads upstream along Fourteenmile Creek before ascending moderately to close its loop. Overall, when combined with Trail #7, this is probably the best hike at Charlestown State Park.

Nice trail with some good views of the river and a waterfall. We went the day after a decent rain and the trail was very slick in some spots. Best trail in the park, imho.

Prepare for a bit of a steep incline at first then it levels off and descends. We thought is was a very nice casual hike for an experienced hiker. It is $9 out of state and $7 for residence to enter park.

Not a bad little trail, though not the most interesting scenery. Still, it's enjoyable and I will go on it again.

I consider it to be a little harder than trail #2.

I'm a local and hiked this for the first time and found it to be a nice trail. I like hiking and while there is some elevation change on this trail, I personally do not find it to be all that difficult. If you're not in good shape that may be different for you. It is a mostly tree covered trail which makes it nice and cool on a hot summer day. The best part of this trail is jumping off onto Rose Island. When you see the bridge, cross it and you are at Rose Island. This is an old resort that used to have an amusement park, swimming pool, dancing hall, zoo, and restaurant for people that took a steam ship from Louisville to reach it in the 1930's. It is a very interesting place with lots of signage to tell you how it used to be. Views along the Ohio are decent from this island.

Fine hike. First time to the park. Didn't look at the website prior to going, and was surprised by the $9 non-resident parking fee...

Great trail. The last 1/2 mile or so was on a service road. Overall a decent trail.

Great trail. Everybody should split off of #3 to #7 to learn about rose island. Great historical spot, and also neat looking at what's left of it and the flood levels in 1937. Love the trails in this park they are easy.
