A pretty easy trail to hike, well marked, alot of walkers and bikers, all friendly. Path became a little muddy after the morning thaw. Dog walkers need to clean up their furbabie's poop.
The waterfall is nice and worth the 9.3 mile loop.

Great for biking and running but for a walker this is an easy boring path.

Decided to challenge ourselves to go for this 9ish miles trail during Thanksgiving weekend. Finished up around 3 and half hours. Enjoyed the trail very much, beautiful view, took bunches of photos on the way, though the trail is quite muddy after the rain.

Amazing run. Really enjoyed the woods area

Highway noise is audible the whole time and the trail crossed several road with decent vehicle traffic. At one point it ran up against housing. Decent trail if you take the proximity of the city into account. The dog had a lot of fun though.

Beautiful fall day. Amazing golds and flame reds from the trees. Cool breeze in the sun making it perfect for hiking. A little road noise near the 55 but otherwise you could never guess where you you are. Easy walking. Great for our dog. Not too many times you can look down in Illinois unless your in a building but the glen gives you that privilege. Thankful for such a beautiful day.

I didn’t make it to the waterfall before nightfall, but a bit disappointed. Wasn’t as exclusive as I enjoy my trail hikes to be. Head the highway the whole time and there were telephone wires through the forest area and lots of roads to cross. Not bad for the length and the proximity to the city, and the areas are nice.

Really calm hike through the forest. There is a nice small waterfal mid trail. Lot's of runners.

Not for biking too slippery!

Good gravel trail for hiking/biking.

Beautiful early morning walks in this 9 mile trail.

Great place to train for long distance hikes, but not technical. Bug spray/lotion is a must between miles 4 - 7 from the parking lot off Bluff rd. to the Des Plaines River outlook because the mosquitoes will cover you if you haven’t applied anything. I think miles 7 - 2 (going counterclockwise/NE from the Bluff rd lot) has the best scenery.

Nice trail!

really nice

Good trail to test out pack load/equipment. Bring a hat or sunblock for there isn’t much shading. It’s a pretty busy loop, but everyone is polite and there’s room for everyone.

"Main Trail" is 9.5 mile long with beautiful long trees and some water bodies along the route. scenic views mentioned on trail map arent really scenic. water is all dried out. trail roads clearly marked. no water fountain in middle of trail. restrooms every 3 miles almost. horse back riding possible.

I use this trail to get some gravel miles in when palos singletrack is too soft. Some decent climbs and nice scenery. Trails are also groomed for cross country skiing in the winter when there's enough snow.

Lots of varied foliage and scenery. Peaceful. Will definitely do again.

My first time here was today and it was amazing

This trail is well kept up and looks nice. The trail is wide and has plenty of room to go around people. The waterfall is nice to see. Even on a week day the trail is busy. Go out and see this wonderful forest.

BUG SPRAY -- USE IT! I wish I'd remembered before my last visit. More than once I was attacked by a cloud of aggressive mosquitos.

With some DEET, it's the best hike in the area, mostly thanks to the river: cliffs, crossings, and the waterfall. The gravel holds up well even when it's been raining. I've almost always seen something interesting -- a skunk, or turtles, once I was surprised by a young deer that was invisible in tall grass just feet off the trail, until it bolted.

Great place to hike! Waterfall, river and forest. Multiple entrance points, convenient parking. Gorgeous in any season.

It was pretty and smelled wonderful but it was too crowded. We went out early on a Sunday and when we reached the waterfall it was overcrowded with people there in their bathing suits. One guy was playing music and ruining the quiet. I made it halfway thru a banana and turned around and walked three miles back to the car. Saw a deer running. Probably running away from the jerk with the boom box. Bikes were flying by and it was not the peaceful walk id hoped for. Not going back on a weekend, if ever.
