We walked about a mile south from Schiller woods South picnic Grove. The woods are nice but the other reviews are accurate in that you never get away from the traffic noise of the roads nearby. Additionally part of the trail was next to fenced off areas for the golf course and the cemetery which was also less than ideal.

Probably a nicer hike if you know where to go.

Walked from Dam No 4 Woods up to Campground Road Woods saw many deer and had a great time lots of beautiful scenery .

Excellent trail Have walked all the way from Dam no 4 Woods to Big Bend Lake had a ball doing so.

I would give 5 stars if not the fact that most of the time is partially not accesible. Pretty views on the river but also a lot of mosquitoes...

Flat and mostly wide trail along the Des Plaines river. Not many people on the trail but the noises as you move parallel to public parks and the planes landing at O’Hare remind seldom let you forget your in the city. That said, it’s still surprising to find a trail like this in the city just 10 miles west of Lake Michigan.

Flat, shaded urban trail that’s great for Chicago area. Trail winds through Cook Co forest preserve along the Des Plaines River. You never escape the traffic noise but the views are pretty through mature forests.

Tried today starting from the Elmwood Park edge. The trail is flooded. Giving 4 starts because the half mile I was able to ride are very promising.

It rained for a few days. So the trails are flooded!! I tried to maneuver around it, no luck. I also was getting eatten alive out there!. ill be back when it clears up.

I live near here and walk this trail all the time. It's not too busy and convenient. Tons of poison ivy and ticks if you go off Trail so safest to stay on the dirt/crushed rock. At times of heavy rain parts of the trail can flood making in impassable in certain sections. Local High Schools us the trail for cross country training so be prepared for larger groups in the mid- to late-afternoon in the fall. Never gets really crowded though.
