Hiking

Great day hike!! Most of the elevation is gained in the first half (fairly steep), then it is still up from there. The payoff is well worth the effort!!

I loved this hike. It’s very easy to follow. There were some annoying gnats at the lake. But they weren’t to horrible. There was an easy rock boulder field to go through. It was easy to follow. This hike is a must!

Backpacking

Clear and well traveled trail all the way into lake. Super short hike, but also pretty steep at the first half. We camped by the lake, and there were many good campsites all around the lake. The lake is also right by the Ruffneck peak trail which is a breathtaking hike to take after setting up camp. Overall, langer lake has beautiful views that are easily worth the short exertion to get there.

This is a great hike. About 3.8 miles from the trailhead. The most difficult part is getting there - 5 miles on a very tough road. I did it with my CRV but not sure I would recommend. We hiked it with my family (7 and 11 years old). On June 14 it was totally clear except for some snow patches. It did start snowing up at the lake level so we bolted back down pretty fast.

Although this trail is pretty and peaceful, I only gave it 3 stars, because of the multiple toppled trees on the trail, a vert serious creek crossing at mile 3.5, an avalanche field at mile 6, and at least a dozen ticks on my clothes. Thank goodness I brought water shoes and wore pants. It also takes 1/2 an hour to drive in from the 21, so it’s a very long day.

I would rate this 5 stars since the canyon is beautiful but the snow cover during our hike made it very difficult. The snow cover started about half way up to the lake and the constant post-holing was frustrating and painful. The lake is frozen as of right now and the deepest snow cover is unsurprisingly up near Kane Lake. The trail gets lost with about a mile to the lake and then it is up to you to make your route to the lake through the thigh high snow. Would love to come back and try this again in a month or so. Our fault for hiking this trail so early in the season

Great backpacking trail. It begins with a relatively steep incline but levels out pretty well all the way into Langer Lake. The trail is wide open in the mid section and can be warm but the views are spectacular.

Moderate trail with multiple lakes along the route. I recommend using permethrin on your gear and clothes in addition to 25% Deet bug spray. Beautiful and usually good fishing along the way.

The whole hike is beautiful. Especially the destination. Plan to take your time. There is so much to see and you'll want to spend some time at the lake soaking in the beautiful view and waterfalls even swim after the solid incline up. Towards the end of the hike at the top there are some places where I would say it more difficult than moderate. Beautiful views I'd love to see again. The last 5 miles in your vehicle to the trail head can be stressful with oncoming traffic. Narrow and not always a place to pull off road.

This trail is really out of the way to get too. 4x4 drive recommend. DEET a must, no plant or flower based bug sprays. They will attract bees and horse flies. Cougar and bears spotted near Lieutenant Lake and General. Good fishing.

Great hike to enjoy solitude. Trail can be easy to lose in the snow - be sure to bring your map. GPS was also extremely helpful!

Oh my. What a temperamental little spring. Short scramble from car to pool but quite a tough one!!! Steep loose sand hill. Be careful both up and down!!! Once you get there, fortunately you'll most likely be there alone. For good reason though.....unfortunately. Once youre in you're most likely out! Lol. Hot hot then cold cold currents beam you unexpectedly!!! I could not find one comfy spot. Right off highway but off some forgotten old road no one drives. Great view. No bugs. No peps... But no soaking either....at least for us. Quite the adventure though. Makes for a good story and memories to laugh on. Good luck!
