Snowshoes across the res and then came back around the road

2/10/19 was a good hike, with some knee deep snow toward the top! very fun.

Easy for everyone, it is a path that has been paved. You loop around behind the springs and it is a short, great little walk. the cabin is worth the visit as well. No need to take supplies.

Why is nobody mentioned that this hike is an extinct volcano!!! This place is always fun. I've been up there many times with my small kids. Usually we do see other hikers. the west side trail can be a little slippery with sand on the rock but just go slow. Down in the bowl you're most likely going to see snakes if you go off trail but it's worth it. Great day hike and close to both Rexburg and Rigby

This was rough. We did this hike in July and it was a brutal climb. Even worse was the terror of coming down. Bring trekking poles, though, and you'll have a better time of it. Outstanding views of Jackson though.

Very pretty views and gorgeous wildflowers when we went in July, but like another reviewer said, you don't get up the peak on the trail. It is a little hard to find the peak on the map as well, so we just ended up climbing up a nearby ridge until we felt we had "summited" something.

The trail loops near the top where you’ll find a small water stream. It has great views of snake river and surroundings! I’d recommend hiking the trail in the winter time to get some great photos of the snow.

Nice short trail for the fam.

The Lower Mesa Falls are impressive! But this nature trail is a bit deceiving. From the Lower Falls lookout up by the road it appears that the trail ends right above the falls, but the view is obstructed by trees. There IS an unconventional trail created that brings you right down to the falls, but it's hard to find that trail down off the cliff.

HINT: go to the lookout by the road. You can see the trail that drops down off the ledge. Take a photo if it would help. Then go down to this nature trail and then you'll know where to look for this added trail that leads down to the falls.

Very pretty trail. Not the prettiest hike in this area though. But the Wind Cave is phenomenal! The photos here don't provide it justice. Amazingly tall entrance. Lots of room inside to climb around and explore. Be sure to bring headlamps to allow unhindered exploring. I'm not sure why this trail is rated as difficult. My 4 year old niece managed the hike up all on her own.

Our yearly trek! Waterfall canyon is also definitely worth the extra push. If you're planning to make it an overnighter the far side of the upper lake is the prime territory. Been up here 4 years running and have always seen wildlife. Last time a moose stumbled upon us and gave us all a good jump. I don't know who was more surprised us or her.

this is definitely a hike that is accessible in the winter as long as it's not crazy snowy. The trail was easy to follow and trafficked.

Simply wonderful

There's nothing too special about this hike but it's pretty simple and short. It's a good hike for when you don't have much time that day to go hiking but still want to.

Great hike, say a lot of wildlife, moose, deer, elk. Fishing wasn't to great, but what can you expect since it's almost November.

Great day hike. Definitely not hard. I ran into many ATVs and Dirt Bikes, they all asked what I was doing so obviously there aren't too many hikers that go there. Absolutely beautiful and lots of wildlife.

Fun hike- we took the clockwise route and there were some river crossings at the beginning, steep portions in the middle, and slick downhills at the end. Nice views from the high point in the middle. We used the app to stay on the trail as it’s not marked the whole way through.

Mid October hike. Only saw one other person in the trail and he was headed back from fishing. A bit of snow melting off the trees from a recent light snow fall. The fish ladder is interesting to see at the trail head and the trail just follows the river below. Took our dogs. Lots of ducks, geese and great blue heron in the river.

Beautiful early September hike. Just went up to the lower lakes. Good trail. Took our dogs. Quite a few people on the trail with us. Excited to hike up to the upper lake sometime. Gorgeous views and fall colors.

Agree with all prior reviews, with a few additions for this time of year: did this hike on 10/16, still very doable even with some minimal snow/ice in shaded areas. Quite a bit of mud once you get up higher - would recommend YakTrax or similar. Made coming back down a bit tricky - quite a few slips and oh s**t moments. Gorgeous views of snow-capped peaks from the top. One hour and 5 mins to top, coming from sea level so surely could be done quicker if you’re better acclimated. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a short but challenging hike.

My first backpacking trip. First 5-6 miles are relatively easy. Last mile is 1000 ft straight up. Nice trail. Nice little hot spring at the top. We had 3 deer with us for a few hours in the camp.

this is one of my favorite hikes. Theres stunning views even just a mile or two in. My family hikes here every year. You can go inside the windcave, but be cautious, there are currents inside the cave where you can't tell how deep they are, make sure you stay out of the water as much as you can, and take a reliable headlamp.

Beautiful area. We went in the fall, and the colors were absolutely amazing. It is a dirt road for a way towards the end, and a very narrow dirt road at the end.

The road to the parking lot at the top is very rough. Four-wheel drive is highly recommended. There is snow now, so i would suggest parking at the bottom and hiking the rest. Its challenging but its worth it!

Great hike! Plenty of good views and not too difficult. We didn’t see any, but watch for bears and moose as they are active in the area!
