Loved this hike! So beautiful! It did start to rain when we got to the top! But i loved it! Definitely doing this hike again!

The first 5 miles of this hike were easy and contained low, rolling trails. However, you have to cross the creek several times. This time of year (late April/early May) be prepared for lots of runoff and waist deep water. We turned around right at the turnoff for the hotsprings because the water was extremely deep and flowing very fast, so it'd be best to go late summer or early fall. Also, this trail is pretty exposed so make sure to bring either lots of water or a filter where you can drink from the creek.

My family loves this short hike, and has done it many times. It’s easiest to do clockwise. Trail is hard to find in some spots, but nothing that would get you lost. We have taken horses too. Worth giving a try if in the area.

This hike is so pretty and not hard at all! It was super snowy today (October 8) but extremely beautiful and enjoyable. I will definitely be doing it again and look forward to trying it in the spring.

Great workout!

pretty good trail, with the exception of the final turn where the trail forks to go either more up the canyon or to the hot springs. It was really hard to find. luckily I was with someone who knew what they were doing. It was excessively steep for the last mile and a half or two miles, especially since I was trail running it. It could really use some switchbacks or something to get up. there were also a lot of stream crossings. nothing more than knee deep though, so I didn't mind them too much. overall, it was a good trail, and is a great, but hard, run.

Nice trail didn't see any bikes or motorcycles four wheelers lots of trees very scenic pond was nice make sure to bring insect repellent.

If you are looking for a challenging and wet adventure hike, this is it! You will have to cross several parts of the river depending on how many detours you choose to take. The river ranges from knee deep to waist deep (at least when we went on June 3rd). Be cautious. Other than the river, the hike is quite easy until you reach the last mile before turning back. The last mile is mostly straight up before reaching the spring.

Part of the trail is difficult to see because of the river volume (at least when we went). For this reason, I highly recommend getting AllTrails! I'm not sure we would have made it all the way if we didn't use this app. There are many trails that lead away from the destination.

Great hike! Great App! Have fun, but be safe!

This was a great trail! There was a lot of uphill climbing that could be difficult for some. The first part of the hike is shaded with lots of little creeks running along the trail. We didn't finish the hike because we ran out of water so I would suggest bringing lots with you. There are lots of wild flowers and great views! It often looked like a scene taken from the sound of music. we had both a dog on a leash and kids with us and they did great. There were a lot of bikers and four wheelers so you need to be carful for those. Also, the road to the trail is a long, narrow, dirt path. If you have a lower car I would not suggest driving on it. we were in a van and we're fine but we had to pass many rvs and it was very scary to do with the narrow roads.

Loved it

Nice trail. Turned around from bad weather coming in. The little pond was a great place to stop and have a snack

Fun hike. Made it all the way with 4 kids. I would go on it again.

Well used, rugged trail. We backpacked in with our kids. Not a lot of shade at the first half of the hike. It was nice that it followed the stream the whole way for refilling our water. Set up camp right next to the hot spring. If I were to do it again with kids, I would hike the 6 miles, then camp at the bottom of the mountain and hike the last 1.5 miles up the mountain in the morning.

We were looking for Elkhorn Peak - didn't find it. (Not the first time anyway!!).

Really great views and , loved the shade of the trees in the morning part of the hike! Wasn't huge on sharing the trail with a lot of 4 wheelers, atvs, and motor cross bikes because of the noise and dust but overall we enjoyed it. We were able to do it with two young kids and a dog. Definitely a family friendly one!

I've been coming here since I was little so I may be a bit biased, but this place is gorgeous. Aside from the beautiful and plentiful hiking/biking trails, there's camping and picnic areas plus a gorgeous scenic overlook.

My wife and I hiked about 4.5 miles each way on this trail, so not to the top of Scout Mountain, but far enough to enjoy some amazing scenery and views. The trail is in quite good condition in most areas. It's a bit rocky for hiking in some spots, but they are passable, and few and far between. We enjoyed it enough to want to hike it again this summer, but this time to the top!

make it 4 miles up trail and come back on the elk meadows loop.

It was super pretty! I went in May, and there were wildflowers everywhere!

It is farther than indicated. We didn't make it to the beaver ponds because we had littles with us that couldn't go any farther.

Great hot spring and hike. We were fortunate to have the camp ground to our selves over night, Friday before Labor Day. On the way out we saw about 12 people on horses heading in. There is a fresh water spring nearby as well. I've included a link of our maps. We had quite an adventure getting there, but it was well worth it. There were 15 water crossings about 12 were calf deep.

Beautiful trail, but we had to turn around two miles up because of snow in April.

I took this trail all the way up to the top of scout mountain. 7.3 miles one way. the first 4 miles out are awesome woods, then the last 2 miles or so are up a gravel road; great panoramic vistas though.

Hiked this with a group of scouts. Saw a river otter on the way up. Great trail conditions. Had several river crossings so take sandals. The last push up to the hot springs was difficult. Calves still sore three days after. Hot springs were nice but after hiking straight up was too hot to sit in but the runoff into a cold spring was perfect. Large camping area by springs but heavily used and lots of trash. Overall a great hike.

A different twist on this trail, I started at the crestline trail head located just east of the listed start point at an elevation of 5840ft. It is a moderate hike with the steepest portion near the end of the 3 mile hike up. You will come across a fork stay to the left and you will end up on top of Scout Mtn. It is open to hikers, horses and mountain bikes, and is an out and back.

I have hiked and dirt biked this trail. I love it! Dirt bike route keeps you out of the creek which is nice. Now I just need to MTN bike it :)
