It was great! Fun for the whole family ages 7-40 ... we went in the evening it was a nice sunset and great temperatures. Well maintained trail and just overall great way to enjoy a Sunday evening in the north ga mountains!

This was a great hike. The walk along the river was one of the prettiest we have seen. The views and sounds felt like you were a million miles away. Be sure and get a Land Use pass or take ur fishing/hunting license. This is state land and they are checking for the permit. It helps support the upkeep. You cannot buy it on site.

This was a fun hike with my Wife as I celebrated my 61st Birthday today with her in Gods Country. 4-8-2018

*LAND USE PASS REQUIRED
I find it interesting that I only came across one other reviewer who mentions this. Land use passes are required and cannot be purchased onsite. Paying to park in a state park is reasonable but there are too many free trails close by to bother with this one and the cost associated.

One of my favorites. Beautiful river.

A nice, quiet hike with awesome spots to view the river. Not much scenery outside of the river, but once you get to the river, it’s worth it. Prepare to get a pretty good work out.

Nice hike to river. Went counter clockwise . Beginning of trail could be marked a little better.

One of my favorite hikes in this area- beautiful with inclines. A bit odd entry, though, as the parking area doesn’t give clear sign of entrance. Walk down the gravel path to first fork. Go left. Walk to the second fork and go right. BUT take left at the next fork. Look for the blue blazes. If you don’t see them, your headed in the wrong direction.

Great trail with a gorgeous river that's big enough to swim in in the summer months. I'm definitely going back. it was a very easy hike.

Great hike. Recommend you go clockwise due to very steep section down to the river. Easier to go down than up. Very cold today (12 degrees--dog loved it!) but looks like a great summer hike and river swim.

This was a gorgeous hike with so many different terrain traverses. The river was incredibly beautiful and if there is a down side it was wanting to constantly sneak off trail to river gaze.

We did have a beginning back track when we took a right fork early on thinking we were at the beginning of the loop. Checking the AllTrail map got us straightened out and we were back on track 20 minutes later. Stay left out of the parking lot till the big tree that splits the trail. The blue trail blaze begins at this point and is easy to follow. We went left and had no regrets. Its a fairly balanced trail and there will be areas of moderately strenuous climb going either way.

At the parking lot we had to ask if we were in the right place. It had a placard for hunting, fishing, and land use passes without much other helpful info. Fortunately we happened upon friendly locals that confirmed the trail and it's open access state.

If I lived locally I would do this hike every day. It is Nature at its finest!

Great hike , beautiful views of the river. Nice trail maintenance.
Trail colors on the map were off from the parking map but trail easy to follow.

Amazing walk going counter clockwise on the trail, just be prepared for the steep up hill back.

A light traffic trail with nice loop to the river. Part of the trail is a long open field/road which is a little underwhelming, but overall a decent trail for a nice afternoon hike. Had my GSD off leash and she loves the trail. Great for dogs.

Easy trail. Part is just a road. The part along the river is a trail. Only a few places you can actually get out on the rocks in the river to picnic or lay out.

Lots of fun, especially along the river

beautiful!

Next time I go I would pass the gate and stay to the right that way you are going down hill. There is a clear path but the shrubs on the side touch your legs so be aware of poison ivy. I brought my old English bulldog and he did great! He loved it! I did find a few ticks on his paws which freaked us both out, other than that we had fun. The water was nice and cool for the both of us. I ran into one biker and that was it. I would go back again.

Great little 4 mile loop. Plenty of places to walk out in the river, even a swimming hole along the way. Only a couple of inclines. Took our dog and he loved it. There were only two other cars when we parked on a Sunday early afternoon and didn't pass a single person on our hike. This is definitely a hidden gem right outside of Ellijay.

Not well marked, but a clear trail. There are many side shoots at the beginning and end. From the parking area, pass the gate and choose left all the way to the river. It's beautiful. Pack a lunch and hang out at the river for an hour or two. Plenty of swimming and sunning spots. The back end of the loop follows the river for a bit. Once you're offered options again, choose right every time to loop back to the parking area. The tail end of the loop isn't as scenic, but it's a short portion of the hike and 85% is fantastic. My dog loved it. Saw very few people, he was fine roaming. Awesome day, a decent enough workout and cool and relaxing by the river. Went in late June; would be nervous in hunting season.

Enjoyed the trail. Met a friendly local at the trail head that described the paths for me since there are several from this location. The best way to make the river loop is to stay to the left. The trail will loop back and connect with another trail. Stay straight and it will lead back to the start. Be sure to have a WMA permit for this area.

We had a great time .. Nice incline to get your blood circulating ..and just when the kids got a little tired.. A beautiful flowing river came along with fantastic rocks, that you can climb to get a closer view of the water scenery and have a little snack ! We followed the river for a ways and then a forest with fresh fall leaves on the ground came along, with a few surprise mini creeks ! Turned out to be a great day !
