Second time on this trail. We went at 8am, heard and saw a lot of birds, spooked a huge bird at the creek (couldn't ID it unfortunately). Horseflies kept buzzing us. The trail was beautiful, plenty of shade and several different types of wildflowers in bloom.

Loved this trail! There were so many dogwoods and wildflowers in bloom. We heard some woodpeckers and song birds as well but didn't see any other wildlife. I wouldn't say it's an easy trail, some steep and slippery hills, the pine straw made it slick in some spots. Very quiet hike, we didn't see anyone else and there was only one other car parked in the lot. Didn't see any trash, the trail is walked just enough to know where it goes. Overall, a beautiful trail and I plan on coming back more!

scenic driving

Drove down one of the nature roads. Saw some horse back campers and lots of horses. Very scenic area and the road can be driven even in rain. Would make a good walking area also. Lots of trees and wild life to see. Saw wood peckers, red birds, sparrows, hawks, crows, blue birds, and robins. The road has lot of gravel so is safe to drive in the rain. Visited this area twice.

Great trails. Very, very clean. We saw 2 other groups (5 other people total) on the trail. There is an old cemetery and remnants of the old roadway toward the beginning of the trail. Keep an eye out for the red-cockaded woodpecker. Hint: it's black and white and flies sort of loopy-like.
