The trails here: Explorer (~3.5 miles total; dirt) Avalanche (~6.25 miles total; dirt) The Mill (~5.1 miles total; dirt) Trestle Rock (~.5 mile; paved) Each dirt trail is made up of loops that are "stacked" so you can choose your mileage. Mtn bikes have priority, but foot traffic is welcome. NOTE: All trails here are directional by day of the week. The directions below are for mountain biking. If hiking/running, go the OPPOSITE way of the bikers! Sun/Mon/Wed/Fri Clockwise or To the left Tue/Thu/Sat Counter-Clockwise or To the right

made it to the falls this time, but all trails app isn't correct. You have to go up and around. Also, more moderate than easy if choosing hike based on ease of slopes.

took the social Trail on the far side of the river then came back on the river side of avalanche 3 2 and 1. makes a nice easy to moderate workout with lots of nature.

Let me first say that the waterfall was beautiful! The rest of this hike was not. In the future I will only kayak to this waterfall, which you can easily do from Old Rope Mill Park. The trail was not marked, and my friend and I got lost many times. We were walking in the woods with a loss of direction, thank goodness we had cell service. There was also a lot of trash, and large machinery at the beginning of the trail.

Loved it, simple and next to the water.

Great family trail. We only went as far as a beach just beyond the trestle. Six year old managed it just fine. There is one creek crossing that might present a problem for those with mobility issues. First part is wooded and along the river. It departs the river and opens up just before the trestle.

Not sure if the side we went down was the right one or not, but this definitely wasn't 5 miles. Beautiful, though, even the graffiti on some of the bridges. Definitely worth a few more visits!

The waterfall itself is beautiful. Totally worth the hike to see it. Parking is safe and and has restrooms. That sums up the positives. The low rating comes from almost everything else about the hike. The trail is partly washed out in places. There’s a portion where you walk under an overpass and the area is full of trash. There’s a heavy smell of (leaked?) diesel fuel from machinery. Once you get past the mud filled dredging area the trail gets very difficult to follow. Blazes are few and far between. Sadly the trash theme continues with garbage the rest of the way to the waterfall. There was even trash on and around the waterfall: everything from 3’ tall letters spelling out “PROM” to broken glass, beer cans, plastic bags, even an old soccer ball. I carried out a load of trash with me but I didn’t scratch the surface. Very sad that people don’t realize what a gem of a waterfall they have here and take better care of it.

Amazing trail that’s extremely difficult and a lot of bush whacking fun!

night hike under the quarter moon

great trail but needs some work and cleaning. Next time we go we plan on bringing trash bags to do some clean up.

Fantastic trail. It’s definitely a hard trail to follow. The falls at the end are definitely worth it. It does have some trash on it, but by bringing a small trash bag you can help reduce that.

Trail was fairly dry. Had a few diversions due to the trails not being clearly marked. Over all a beautiful hike that most skill levels could trek. The train tracks and bridge are definitely a cool highlight! Watch out for crazy bikers and take your mosquito repellent!

I don’t know how to rate this one, the falls are gorgeous and it’s neat to have them so close to home in a populated metro area. The hike though is a walk on a trash lined trail, then a trash lined dirt road that goes through an area that earthmovers are working all the while the noise from 575 is behind you. The hike then goes back to a hard to follow trail as a previous reviewer noted. If you want to enjoy the falls in a way with more nature and less trash I would recommend kayaking from Lake Allatoona.

Great trail for our puppy to have his first hike. The waterfall was beautiful and a great spot to have a rest or snack. The park was nice with clean restrooms in the parking lot.

I would recommend this Trail to anyone interested in escaping into the Woods and getting a daily dose of that camping experience. Skip the gym, hit Rope Mill.

Wipe out of handle bars and landed on my head. Very cold

Trails well marked

Not bad but this trail needs more development. It has a paved section on the south bank and a muddy trail on the north bank. Some gravel would help the mud and maybe a foot bridge over the river so it can be a loop.
