Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a 2,965 acre National Battlefield that preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing forces maneuvered and fought here from June 19, 1864 until July 2, 1864. Although most famous as a Civil War battlefield, Kennesaw Mountain has a much richer story.

Nice wide trail. Mostly wooded. Small grades as well as short steam manageable hills. I travel a lot and wherever i go i turn on AllTrails to find new off road adventures and get in a good run.

This was an enjoyable run which i tried to do 5 miles in 50 minutes. Unfortunately, I got a little lost and ran 7 in 71 minutes.

This is also a horse trail so what out for the manure.

Nice, easy walk. Mostly shaded but there another of locations with numerous rocks so watch your step.

I hike this trail every day after work. It’s a great workout and is well traveled.

Great trail, but it does run parallel to a busy road at one point so you don’t get a complete separation from man-made noise.

Several cars have been broken into at this trail. We found out because our vehicle was stolen and 4 other cars were broken into at the same time. The police and rangers said burglaries at the Kennesaw mountain trails are common. But yet they don’t have any officers patrolling the parking lots.

Great trail, historical markers, and spots for photos. A short easy hike but fun with family

First mile is the hardest and then it gets easier as you go. Bring plenty of water if going in the summer.

I like to do this one every other week. For me it’s not very difficult, but, for a first time hiker, I can imagine that it would be a little more difficult. Very nice beautiful views, and, not usually too busy during the week. Not terribly far from Atlanta, and is worth the drive. Weekends, it’s always crowded, but, don’t let that deter you, this is definitely one worth going to.

My calves were killing me going up

This is my go to place to hike and I love it have been coming here for years there’s different options you can take which range from easier to more difficult. If I had to complain about anything it would be from people leaving trash on the trails why can’t people just pick up after themselves. The visitor center is also worth a look at some good history there.

Best trail at Kennesaw Mtn!! Lots of gain in altitude over the 1.8 miles from the parking lot on Burnt Hickory to the top of Kennesaw Mtn. My family and I love the trail due to the natural terrain, which means there are parts not well marked so you need to pay attention.

Great hike. Not very long, but it's steep enough to give you a real workout. Amazing views from the top. Popular but not overcrowded. Nicely shaded on a hot afternoon.

Love this trail. Nicely shaded and peaceful. Not too many inclines, and most are gentle. Well marked with a lot to see. Not too crowded either.

Great trail for a scenic, but not necessarily strenuous, hike. Very peaceful with lots of wildlife.

W job h

Not a hard hike. Good view of town from the top and the vantage point. A lot of history here. I'd say it's easy to moderate.

Nice 11 mile hike in the metro ATL area. Mostly shaded. The ascent of Kennesaw Mtn. is an easier approach from the visitors center, as the trail is wider and mostly improved, but also more heavily trafficked. East trail is mostly rolling hills and relatively easy.

The traffic noise is a little annoying sometimes but the trail itself is great! I run it frequently!

Good trail through the trees with steep incline and city views. You can also opt for the road all the way up - great views over park area and city; has more of a gradual incline. Two or three points from the road where you can connect onto the nature trail. Stays consistently busy - “lightly moderate”, depending on the time.

Great trail, hirstorical markers and great views. Got my geeky history fix as well as a great hike.

nice history and view

Variety of fun on this trail! My only complaints are: 1) the amount of traffic in beginning (starting from Visitor Center side); and 2) it was slightly confusing as to which way the trail led at the top of the mountain. We found out way with the help of another hiker. Other than that, this trail was packed with elevation climbs, beautiful views of the distant city, and awesome rock formations. As a hiking rookie, I would call this is a moderate/difficult hike. However, we brought our dog and he led the way the whole time! Will definitely visit this trail again.

Great hike, quite scenic but also quite busy on the trail around the visitor’s center. A little bit of confusion at the top so maybe a few more trail markers but I would definitely recommend.

There are many trails of many varying distances and difficulty levels throughout Kennesaw Mtn trail network. I go regularly and have not tired of it three years on. I enjoy taking friends and family who visit the area, as it is often their favorite activity that we do in the NW burbs. Definitely some challenging stretches. TAKE WATER.

Mostly foggy and Rain. Passing front, dropping temperatures to Mid 50's.

Foggy and misty.

Good trail to hike with inclines that are challenging though not too long. Many rocks make foot placement awareness a must! Hike on!!!

Great hike! As others say it’s more challenging than some other “moderate” hikes with a decent amount of incline and rocky paths. Most of the challenge is front loaded, assuming you choose to start straight up Pigeon Hill (clockwise on this map). Also worth noting the visitors center with restrooms is about 3.5 miles in. It is on the more crowded side, so if being alone on the trail is your thing, then this one isn’t for you.
