A little over grown, but that is just fine. No water, but what do you expect with this heat. Looking forward to the cooler months.

Good short hike. The falls were dry, but the view was beautiful. Will hike again during the rainy season when the fall isn't dry.

Great little hike! I took my 4 year old. It was a little over grown but could have been worse. We took a left on the path instead of a right. It was a bit of a challenge for my daughter going that way around the loop but it was very easy for her after we reached the falls.

Nice trail all the way up. A little overgrown in some spots but that's part of the fun :) When you get to the waterfall overlook, follow a small unmarked path up the rocks for a nice lookout. I would definitely come back in fall/spring to see what it looks like through the seasons.

great hour and a half ish hike. still had some water dripping and a couple of over look views made it worth while. trail was easy to discern the whole way. stone stairs on the right side are steep.

Good trail! A little overgrown and rocky but my dogs did great! Just a little slippery at the top! Would be better if it rained because then the falls wouldn’t be so dry.

Saw a copper head. All trails map made it look like I was way off trail when I wasn't. I ended up backtracking. It wasn't terrible but it was very overgrown in the places that hadn't been burned.

My family loved this trail. Let me start with the only downside. There's a LOT of poison ivy that is hard to avoid. The beginning of the trail is narrow and the poison ivy is growing over it. Once the trail widens, it's great. Its an easy walk (mainly shaded) with only one time you have to cross over a tree across the trail. The only steep place are the rock steps right before you get to the falls. You walk behind the falls to get to it and it's like your in a cave. I've heard the falls don't always have water but we went in May and there was cold water flowing down. Beautiful and perfect for a hot day.

Beautiful view at the top! Loved the hike, easy pretty much the whole way.

Not a bad trail gravel center well built. In the summer ferns and poison ivy leans over in the path in the summer. Long pants only in the summer.

I enjoy hiking. This trail is much like wondering a wildlife trail through the woods. We hiked after a rain shower, so parts of the trail had water run off crossing or flowing along the trail. We also got to see several falls, not just the grand Keown Falls. It has breathtaking views and scenery, which is the best part. It's a great hike to enjoy nature on.

This trail had us sweating! I've only ever done the Keown Falls loop, but we decided to do this entire trail today. Trail is easy to follow, it's a lot of uphill for the first part of the Keown loop and up into John's, but the view from the top is spectacular. Thoroughly enjoyed our trek down and got to admire so many butterflies and foliage. Highly recommend if you've got a few hours to kill and can stand the slightly strenuous journey up!

Great trail! Not too easy or too hard. The waterfalls were beautiful even though it hadn’t rained. Barely saw anyone. There are some down trees so be prepared to jump or climb over them.

We like to try new hikes. We do not live very far from this particular falls so we thought we would go and check it out. There had been a massive burn on one side of the ridge. The trails were very very poorly marked. After seeing the falls, we decided to do the loop. The trail disappeared after seeing the overlook?? Were we supposed to turn around and go back the way we came? We assumed “loop” meant that the trail would pick back up and take us back to the beginning. Thanks for any input or advice. We eventually had to call for a ride back to our car as soon as we got a signal because the parking lot was way far from where we were at that point. We were disappointed but maybe just need to be educated about the possibility of the fire destroying part of the loop. If you have any information about when this fire occurred that would be helpful as well. Happy hiking! *** Update- There was a controlled burn that took place 3/21/19. Be aware when you give this one a try..

Gorgeous hike that is absolutely one of my favorites in northwest Georgia! MAKE SURE you go after a rain or the waterfall won’t be flowing. I’ve been during a drought (didn’t think that one through) and the falls were nowhere to be seen. A nice elevation gain as well! Be ready for the steps!

I really enjoyed this trail. I hiked up from Keown Falls and the total hike was about 5.5 miles. It was super windy with a nice cool breeze. There was no one else on the trail. When I got to the Johns Mountain overlook there was a "Spreading of the Ashes" ceremony happening. As soon as I realized what was happening, I immediately stopped walking and look away and waited. I did not intend to interrupt. This was a great hike and I look forward to coming back !

After eight days of rain in North Georgia, the falls were raging in all their glory. The trail up was in good shape except for one spot near the beginning where the trail crosses the stream. It was pretty deep there. I walked along the stream and found a better place to cross over, more stepping stones. I also continued up to the overlook which was super.
