This is a flat, asphalt trail that is popular among fitness walkers, dog walkers, and stroller moms. If you seek a “hiking” trail, look elsewhere. The trail is lit with vintage-looking lampposts and basically goes around athletic fields. Most of the trail is out in the open; there are however two short segments along a creek that are shady. Benches and waste receptacles are placed along the trail. Six bridges, each with their own structural design, are what keep this trail interesting. The most noteworthy waypoint is the covered bridge which crosses Richland Creek at a point where there is rushing water over rocks.
