Good short hike with a killer view.

Went on a day that was foggy and cool. With the fog, the park was so quiet to the point it was almost deafening. It took me 4 hours to complete. I hiked the trail in a clockwise direction starting at the coolsprings parking area. Would say that this hike is moderately strenuous. The wet roots and leaves made it just a bit more challenging. Look forward to hiking this trail again.

Very challenging trail for me, as it was my first back country camping trip, luckily I had my brother in law with me who has been here a couple of times and he was a big help. We did the trail clockwise and had no reals issue other than being out of shape with a heavy pack on. The trail is clearly marked and I agree with some of the other reviews that the mile markers are not entirely accurate. Please be cautious, as the the leaves and rocks are extremely slippery due to the recent rains. It took us a 3.5 hours to get to our campsite (3) and the next morning it took us 2 hours finish. I consider this moderate to strenuous. I will definitely hike this trail again.

Fun hike. Doesn’t take long and trail is well marked.

This is a fun run. On busy days, the Lake Trail is a challenge to run due to all of the people out for leisurely strolls.

"Moderate"? Ha! No, I'd say more like moderately strenuous. It's well marked, beautiful scenery, a few small creek crossings, and a spectacular waterfall about 5.5 miles in (I hiked clockwise from the trailhead parking lot). Lots of ups and downs. Mostly ups! Took me close to 5 hours, and I'm usually a fairly fast hiker. I've hiked plenty of 8-12 mile trails, and this one sure seems longer than 8 miles :)
But it's beautiful, and I'd do it again. I'm willing to bet there are many wildflowers to see in the spring. Fall would be spectacular, too.

Greats views, good markers. Absolutely beautiful after a few days of rain the water falls were in full force. Enjoyed this trail in early December.

Went in early December and loved the loop trail, we even did the creek trail that is easy to find off of this one and will lead you back to where you left off in this trail.

Beautiful day to hike, cool temps and a little wind. Trail was wet and this slippery. Well marked with orange blazers.

Just hiked the Gahuti trail today and it was gorgeous. it was quite foggy and moist but this made the hike extra mystic and romantic. there are just so many different type of vegetations. not many people either so the dog had a blast too. instead of doing the Gahuti only we cut through the Goldmine Creek Trail along the lake and through the Big Rock Trail. worth seeing.

Rough! Lots of tree roots, rocks and wet spots. Came in at 8.67 miles total and took just over 3 hours. Lots of water crossings. Too foggy to see the views but the park is gorgeous!! Would rate this mod- strenuous.

Quick hike to see amazing view and a little history lesson.

Great hike for the day. Filled with hills and panoramic views.

Great trail, well blazed, with a lot of waterfalls. It was foggy the day that we went, so unfortunately couldn’t see any of the views, but it was still a great hike. Completed it as marked in 3 hours.

Great hike with awesome views. Closer to 10 miles total.

Nice trail. The outlook views were great! The fire tower was neat and the old fort wall.

Great loop around the lake. Easy to walk.

Great trail with lots of beautiful views! Kind of busy, but we waited to go until the tower was open - very neat observation decks at the overlooks as well. Lots of history! Full trail review + more pics coming to our hiking blog soon - www.Wander-Full-Life.com

Well-maintained and in the fall extra special with the changing of the leaves. We made it in time to venture up and inside the CCC fire tower and although it was foggy the view was nice.

My uncle and I circumvented the trail surrounding Fort Mountain State Park in a little over 5 hours. The trail is well-maintained and several of the views are spectacular, I hear. We were among the clouds during our hike and although the vistas were not available to us the scenery and foliage was and it is tremendous.

Wonderful hike especially if you have a photographers eye. Great workout as well.

I love this trail. It has a streams, waterfalls and gorgeous mountain views. My favorite hike in Georgia.

Great little short hike. Leaves were turning nicely and the views were awesome. I've lived in this area my whole life and never tire of this beautiful place! To me it's easy, the other folks we were with thought it moderate.Any way you look at it, it's worth the jaunt. You'll be glad you did it!!

Beautiful place for fall. Several trails within the park. Worth the trip! Lots of camping and other park activities to do. Trail had a lot of rocks in it. Very well kept and wonderful.

Good trail for hikers and dogs. Once you get out of parking lot area not many people. A few “water crossings” not really water crossings but water on ground is great for dogs. Added miles making it an 11 mile loop in four hours. There was good up and down making it a great workout. Lots of fallen leaves at moment which did make it hard to see slippery rocks so watch footing.

We started the trip from our camp site which added about a mile in length. The true beginning of the trail starts at a parking lot going to your right. If all you care to see if the lookout then it is at the end of the trail to your left about 50 yards. The trail was difficult at the beginning and end with many steep inclines. I would not recommend this trail for children or dogs. There are many spots in the trail that are very narrow and you have to cross water a couple of times. There are a few spots to stop with benches and many areas with large bolders where we stopped to have lunch. Our trip took about 6.5 hours with a total of 9.4 miles. Overall I would recommend this trail especially this time of year with the leaves changing color.

Awesome well maintained trails with spectacular views.
