I took the Jack's Knob trail from the lower lot to the summitt. It was a slow burner, easy but, eventually you start feeling the ascent in your lungs and calves. One of my all time favorite summitt views.

Straight up but goes quick. Very developed but the views are worth the trip.

Good short hike. Nice waterfall.

Trekked East from the Appalachian Highway 76 in Cherry Log on section seven. Very easy walk starting out with gravel roads. Talked to some nice folks while hiking!

We did the loop counterclockwise June 10, 2018. The loop overall is a good workout but nothing too strenuous up or down. The trail was well marked and in pretty good shape. There are some spots with tall grass grown up but nothing that bad. Most of the water sources are at the beginning (clockwise) or end (counterclockwise). There are no really notable features, but we did see a few turtles, crawfish and an orange salamander. If you live in the Westside area of Whitfield County it certainly is a good option if you want a couple hours of hiking. The trail was very quiet and if you like quiet trails this is one for you. There were several wildflowers along the trail particularly in power line fields you cross 2 times.

The access is pretty easy off of 136 between Villanow and LaFayette via a gravel Forrest service road. There are just a few rough spots. The road is narrow and meeting a vehicle in certain spots can present challenges.

beautiful waterfall .... easy hike .... too many people

It’s a great exercise trail and perfect for biking.

What an incredible trail! Featuring waterfalls, a beautiful peak, and plenty of wildlife opportunities. I'd have to agree with another reviewer who mentioned this trail as being one of the most beautiful in Ga. Plenty of water sources easily accessible from the trailside. I would recommend staying stocked with water, I went through about 3 liters going up and down. The hike was strenuous at times, but what's a trail without a good challenge?

If you click the Directions arrow through Google Maps, it does not take you to the lower parking area with the easiest access to the trail. The link takes you to the upper which is a 2 mile forest service road walk. The trail is beautiful once you arrive on it.

We didn’t complete this trail- we made it about halfway with our kids. Still great and would love to come back and hike the entire thing. Kids were worn out about a mile in. Steady incline.

Been going to the lake my whole life and always wanted to hike this trail.... did it today!!! It is uphill to the tower and you can walk up the stairs to the first landing for a good view. The good news is it’s all downhill going back out;) It is a beautiful trail. Saw squirrels and deer. Camped 3 days at the lake. Gorgeous week!!!!

Beautiful trail the entire way. Scenery changes from creek, to fern covered forrest to rock covered trail making it to the summit. Great views! On the way back the turn onto Duncan Ridge Trail can easily be missed if other hikers are stepping aside for you to pass. The sign is set back some off the AT & facing more toward other direction.

great 360 view

Easy trail that my dog loved. Camped right down the road too at a huge campsite alone!

Nice trail, well maintained. Either way you loop is nice. A trail for a stroll, not very difficult.

Wasn’t really a hike, or at least I didn’t see the trails. People were mainly there for fishing and swimming in the waterfall. Great area to swim around in.

We had an amazing hike today out of Vogel State Park to Blood Mountain. Hiking up, we only saw one other hiker, who guided us when we weren't sure which path to take. We saw this same hiker at the top, along with about 10 thru hikers. The trail was well marked and seemed to have some new signs for Blood Mountain. It was definitely a strenuous uphill the whole way out! Well worth the hike, great views from the top and a good workout!

The trail was a nice, quick, easy hike. the waterfall was very pretty and not too far up the trail.

good trail. We went clockwise. I recommend counter clockwise if you don't like steep climbs. took the dogs and they were off leash all day. gives them time to explore. nothing extremely exciting about it other than being able to let the dogs run.

Great hike! definitely one of my favorite waterfalls in GA, there should be trail markers to tell you where to go, I almost lost track of the trail twice. Still had a great time though! Only saw a couple the whole 5 hours I was there, it was amazing!

Since we have had so much rain for the passed month or so the falls were gorgeous!! Nice hike for the whole family. I baby wear so the last little leg being uphill got to me. lol. We all had fun.

Nice Falls and wasn’t too far up the trail. Trails were a little steep for me since my hip and knees were hurting but still a nice trail.

Great all-around hike. On the return from Vogel, be sure to keep a close eye out for the right turn onto the Duncan Ridge Trail. The sign can' be easily missed when you're SOBO on the AT.

Great day...i agree with the other reviews....would be very difficult to get lost. Follow James steps verbatim

Just got home from completing this one. Due to weather, we decided to do the river crossings first. Which meant we had to face an uphill penitentiary branch trail the next day. That was fairly strenuous.

Very dissapointed in this trail. Trecking up mostly on a gravel road was very difficult for me and the view was lacking due to trees and haze due to pollen and Controlled fires happening in the area. the Tower was locked so no view.

Fantastic hike! Challenging. One of the better hikes in Georgia. The Vista is spectacular words nor photographs give it justice. The abundance of water was fantastic for the dogs. I especially enjoyed the pool of cold water which rejuvenated my joints. I expected to see more wildlife. Great hike for solitude. Recommend packing a lunch for this one although Clayton is close enough and has an abundance of restaurants.

Nice moderate hike. Some climbing, but not strenuous. Many wildflowers, especially in the sections closest to the creek. Quite lovely. My friend and I hiked the loop counterclockwise. Numerous creek crossings! But easy rock hopping, as the water wasn't high. After a big rain, that might be another story. Nearing the end of the loop, the trail dumps you at a 3-way fork (another service road). At this point the trail is not clearly visible, and it took us a bit to realize the trail continued through the intersection on the left. Note: the 2-3 miles you need to drive on Service Road 219 to the trail head is rough, but doable in a truck or SUV.
