Live this park. Path needs some work. Remove the in and outs. Beautiful weather today. Short walk for a micro pup. Clean and well kept. Minus the dead bird in the fountain.

Path is not bad to see downtown but would choose some better streets to walk down. Honestly the only good part is going through the park. Someone needs to redo this trail with a better path and make it more streamlined. All the in and outs are dumb.

I haven’t had a chance to do this yet, but being new to the area, I appreciate a route that will hit the highlights of my new city. I’m definitely adding this “hike” to the bucket list!

Atlanta is not a fun city. Take me to the trails!

Our hotel was a short walk to Centennial Olympic Park and all the other major downtown Atlanta attractions. After visiting the Georgia Aquarium our family of 4 decided to take a stroll through the park on the way back to the hotel. Even though is was a cold, rainy December day, we appreciated much the park had to offer. Seeing the Olympic torches and memorable statues was the highlight, along with the cascading rock formations and water pools along one side of the park. My only complaint is that overall, the park felt very empty, as we wished there was more to see on the inside. Overall, I would still say this is a must visit if you travel to Atlanta.

Right in downtown. Very easy. Nice park. All city highlights surround it: civil rights museum, Coca Cola museum, aquarium, etc

We visited the 1996 Olympics and walked around the venues and Centennial Olympic Park, played in the Fountain of Rings, strolled across the Great Lawn, watched basketball in the Georgia Dome and enjoyed several of the track and field events. Atlanta was a great host, and put on quite a production with the new stadium (at the time) for the diverse population of visitors. Marred by a bomb blast on July 27th, the Olympic Spirit was shaken but undeterred in promoting healthy competition and goodwill around the world. If you are in Atlanta, check out this historic area downtown.

I was lucky to be able to spend a few days in and around the park during the first week of the 1996 Olympics, including attending several sporting events nearby (men's basketball and gymnastics in the Georgia Dome and weightlifting in the World Congress Center). We haven't been back since the Georgia Aquarium was built...need to visit again.
