Relatively easy and short hike to the overlook. Beautiful views and trail is well maintained. Dog friendly. Outhouse available in parking area.

I did this trail last year with a few friends and it was a 4 day hike to remember. Blood mountain! Took a few water detours so I know I did more than 30 miles. I live in NY so I will definitely complete the NY State.

It was a good hike. Overlook from Preachers Rock was nice and then about a 1/4 mile further was a barely maintained trail to the right that went to another overlook.

Great trail. Awesome views.

Absolutely loved the view!!! This hike is a MUST!

Great place. Steep at places, but well worth the view.

my favorite hike so far! beautiful

The hike is pretty easy and the view is lovely.

Awesome trail. At trail head take the trail to the right. Amazing canopy along the way. Dog friendly. Amazing views at the top! Well worth it! Will do this again!

Great trail and view. we took our dog and she enjoyed it too. I would suggest getting there early if you plan on hiking during a nice weekend day as the parking area was full by 1130am yesterday.

What a great hike. We started out uphill on the Jarrard, leveling out on the AT before taking the Slaughter Creek downhill for a nice loop. The lake and creek at the end makes for a nice cool down for the dogs. Great hike for the dogs. Lots of solitude.

Pleasant afternoon hike for Wife and I to Preachers Rock (approx 1 Mile to rock). Great views along they way, particularly from top of rock. Will do this one again! Moderate to Easy.

finally a nice day with no rain! The trail was wet but not muddy.
started off with Slaughter Creek Trail, (following the creek was nice) Had some views through the trees from the Appalachian Trail, had the leaves bloomed, there would not have been any. Watch your blazes, easy enough to go down the "unknown trail."
Also, F.Y.I. there is a $5 registration fee.

Was a great short hike for the family. Youngest being seven years old. Nice trail, great views and not crowded on a weekday in February.

Such a beautiful view at Preachers Rock! When you first come up to the trail you can go left of right... no idea where left goes, but right goes up to Preachers Rock so if that’s where you’re trying to go, take the trail to the right!

Terrific trail. Probably crowded when it’s not winter because it’s easy. Most anyone can do it imo.

Absolutely stunning views at Preachers Rock

This should actually be called slaughter creek/Appalachian trail/jarrard loop as the jarrard section is the shortest and the least scenic. its a great hike and you get to say you hiked the Appalachian trail, albeit for about a mile and a half.

Perfect hike with a huge pay off at the summit. Perfect for beginners and a must do for the seasoned hiker.

Just finished a 4 day backpacking trip from Three Forks to Blood mountain. Low temp was 18 and high of 54. Mornings were cool and had to shed layers after starting each day. We saw several day hikers but not too many on our last night. No bears were seen. Bear box is at campsite Woods hole. It's about .25 mile off the AT but there is a privy and a cool 3 sided shelter and a small water source. Blood Mountain was a great view but the down hill to Neels gap was a lot of stone steps.
Good luck & Happy Trails!

Spectacular view from Preachers Rock!!!! Would love to go back at peak fall color next year.

Good trail for first time hikers. Plenty of water and campsites. Also has the option to head up to the Blood Mountain Shelter. Seems to be moderate to heavy hiking traffic with sites filling up in the fall.

Great trail with a moderate incline in the middle. Preachers Rock view is well worth the hike

Super easy trail with an excellent view. The view will only get better as fall arrives.

equipment ...Osprey day pack, trekking poles and plenty of water.

Hiked up yesterday morning since I was on the way to Trailfest in Dahlonega. The weather was perfect and the views were breathtaking, just as I remember them from last time I was there about 8 years ago. Met a lot of friendly people, some that I seen again later at the festival! If you've never been to Trailfest, you should make it a point to go next year. Good times!! Last night decided to go back up to Woody Gap and camp for the night. Very busy spot. Happy hiking everyone!!!✌️

This trail isn't moderate, it's very easy.

Fantastic Views. Wonderful Hike. Continued past Preachers Rock to Blue Blazed side trail to overlook camp site for another view just as amazing. Will continue on to Blood Mountain next time. Get there early, parking is at a premium. Thins out considerably past Preachers Rock.
