This is the best place to go!! Beautiful view if you're willing to go up the broken tower....still worth it. All time favorite spot

Trails have lots of rocks jutting up and tree roots but it is a pleasant walk. I went on a Tuesday so I am guessing it gets more busy on the weekends. I walked for an hour and a half. Encountered one mountain biker, one dog walker and one couple. Nice and quiet. Just the way I like it.

Took the dirt road up by accident but followed the blue rectangle/white circle trail back down. Dirt road was boring, but the walk down was more enjoyable. Nice view at the top.

Great for walking with dogs. Not very crowded and plenty of trails for exploring.

Just walked to the trails leading to the tower when there was access to it back in 2006 & 2012. Nothing really exciting to see. It's pretty much a place to make out w your significant other. The trails are not difficult at all. Easy enough for a 3 y/o to walk through it.

The first mile and a half is basically a road. The summit is a No Trespassing zone with a bunch of electrical stuff on top...and there's only a small view halfway up the road. The road/trail eventually turns into a real trail and loops around the mountain. My dog loved it and it was short and easy for her. I won't be back though.

Cool place

trails arent marked clearly but it was a nice technical xc with some short lived decents

Nice Sunday afternoon walk. My GPS cut out and we ended up tacking on 2 miles to the hike. Lots of summer woodland blooms and butterflies.

This hike was very easy, good for a beginner, I thought there would be more of a sight up at the peak of the mountain. But, all the trees cover it. The look out tower was also closed when I went. I feel like this hike would have been more better if the tower was open. Also, while going down the mountain, the markings for the trails are not marked as clear as should be. We ended up getting off track a few times.

Nice trails in the area, low traffic for a beautiful Saturday. Fire tower at top is closed and is covered in graffiti. Fresh tree removal near the picnic area at the top, nice views. Looks like some drive up but most were parking at bottom and hiking around.

Good trail, a bit of a mix of paved road, dirt road, horse/mountain biking trail, and regular foot trail. The view from the top was nice, even though we went while it was cloudy and rainy out. I would suggest this trail as a running trail as well for those that don't mind the rocky parts and the up and down hills. The only thing that was a little annoying was the lack of markings. There were tons of different trails branching off of the main trail I was trying to follow, none of them were marked, including the trail on the map here, so you have to really pay attention to your GPS and try to stick with the trail on the map, unless you feel like exploring of course. Besides that it was a beautiful little trail, I carried my baby and a backpack up it, along with having my dog with me.

I got there and it was OK. I was expecting to hike up to the tower but found out that it was closed when I got there. Was not many sites to see but it was a quiet hike. I will most likely not be returning to this place

loved it initially, but yes the trail markings arent very clear and are worn down, got lost on the way back about 2 miles out and had to back track, just pay close attention and dont let your dog lead lol

Easy hike up to the tower, which is closed but that didn't stop anyone from going up it. We tried the loop afterwards but found the trails were poorly marked. Bring the all trails app to be sure not to get lost!

LOOKOUT TOWER IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! Decent trail if you're looking for something to do with the family, but too easy for an experienced hiker. I followed the Shenipsit trail up and back. Very short and rocky. with the look out tower closed and many leaves still on the trees there was no view at all. Was lots of graffiti. Waste of my time.

This was a spectacular view that didn't require much in terms of the way of strenuous uphills. Just follow the directions in 50 Walks in Connecticut provided:
Starting at junction of Parker, Sykes, and Soapstone Road. Proceed up Soapstone Road to Observation Tower. Follow dual-blaze green and blue trail to green/yellow blaze, then the straight blue blazed back to Parker.

Hiked the Soapstone Road to the observation tower, down the interpretative trail to Shenipsit, back to Parker Road. Short but fairly vigorous. Great panorama on the tower.t
