The water was mucky, the trail was overgrown, the people I bumped into were unfriendly, and the biggest takeaway I had was the intense and overwhelming amount of mosquitoes. This trail is mistakenly marked as moderate and was most definitely just a walking trail along what I would have called a murky stream.

This is a very scenic trail along a nice section of the Scantic River. It should not be categorized as medium because it’s very easy. The trail easily follows the banks of the river for a mile then returns. Not very well marked but you won’t get lost if you keep your eye on the river.

Nice little trail. It is more of a walk than a hike. The trail is flat and slightly overgrown at some sections. Lots of birds. The trail stays along the river but there are side trails that you can take. I stayed by the river. Took less than an hour. Was very peaceful.

Trail is tight with overgrown but is clear on foot trail. Many birds and creatures along the way.

Great spot for a run! Nice and flat along the river with some trails that loop up into the woods and all connect back to the main river trail.

Love this! The main trail itself is right along the water, fairly flat and easy. Many trails go off the side that loop back down to the water again. I love running here.

Nice walk along the river. Can be a bit muddy in early spring. Parking lot is very small

This place is beautiful, really five star, But this is the second time here, and I have never seen a place with such a tick problem. February 26. I am wearing a coat and I found two In-bedded low near my shoulders. My friend's small dog had at least a couple dozen on him.

Pretty, interesting history of the land usage, river is great to see & hear.

very easy trails, nothing marked very well but whatever trail you follow in just follow out.. many people were bbq and floating in the water at the very beginning when you park your cars

Clean, not as long of a trail as I expected. The river was pretty. And very flat.

More a walk than a hike. Been here plenty of times. Not bad. Summer weekends parking is tough and gets messy with folks who litter. Hit up the creamery for ice cream after!

Great local trail that is well marked. Recent Eagle Scout project built a brigde over a stream that feeds the Scantic river. Other Eagle scout project added a walkway over a swampy area of the trail.

The river views are really nice with several small water falls along the way. Not much of a hike more like a simple walk, very easy trail.

A very nice hike along the Scantic River. Can be done as an out and back along the river, which is a very easy hike. The loop has a steep ascent to get to the ridge above the river. There are a few side trails that cut down to the river about half way along the top of the ridge. You can follow the trail along the top of the ridge past the descent to the river to get some nice views of a local farm.

Nice walk along the Scantic River. There are remains of the Hazard Powder Co along the trail. The hike from the river to the ridge is a little steep going up and quite steep coming down. There were quite a few fishing and some nice catches.

Cool trail. A little hard to find. It has picnic tables at the beggining which is perfect for those hot days when families come and go tubin down the river! It's a lot of fun. Aside from the hot day river tubbers, this place isn't too crowded

This is a nice small pond to kayak/canoe on. It seems to have a plant infestation, but as long as you're ok with that it's a fun place to paddle around and explore. I recommend putting in at the boat launch located at the intersection of School and Maple. Enjoy!

Really fun kayaking if you like to slowly meander up a narrow, winding river. Lots of wildlife and it seems pretty remote in places. It goes on for quite a ways so you can make a nice relaxing half day out of it. Good parking and easy put in by the pond.
