Create a hands-on history lesson with a visit to Putnam Memorial State Park, site of the Continental Army's 1779 winter encampment in Bethel, Connecticut.

Lots of interesting history, worth seeing at least once. Definitely great for families.

Easy walking trails with great historical markers around the loop.

A nice kid friendly walk. Five and four year olds found many interesting things to see.

Paved loop is nice for a short walk. Dog friendly.

Decent easy loop with the dog. Lots of foot (and paw) traffic. Little historical spots along the way keep it amusing.

Great place to take my young kids for a walk. The lessons they learned about the parks history as a late 1700's military encampment along the way made it perfect for some fresh air, exercise and education.

One of my first ventures into the outdoors, history, and hiking. There is a Youth Group camping area.
There are reenactments throughout the year. There is a museum with great info. There is a picnic area on a lake across the street from the historic area.
