Great trail

This is my favorite trail in the area.

I really have no idea why it says that it is out and back. You’re missing an entire half of the trail. Once you pass the tributary on the right you keep going along to the left. Don’t recommend this for small children or older dogs, as it can be a bit tricky. You’re basically on the edge of a decent drop into the water. If you keep following this trail you loop back around to the trail you began on. The split between the trails is super easy to miss when you don’t even know it’s there. Beautiful laurel in the spring and no shortage of mushrooms growing along this trail. Amazing birds, and plenty of different scenery. This is a wonderful, relaxing, and decently challenging hike. I hike it once a week usually. If you’re looking for something new with a lot to offer, look no further.

I spotted my first Pileated Woodpecker here. Bring binoculars and listen for their call. Easy enough for my son (5 at the time).
