really nice, well marked trails. I completed this one on 1/11 and it was 62 degrees, so not a typical January hike. The trail has some really interesting rock features, and most of the elevation is covered right at the beginning.

Great trail. It’s a pretty steady up to begin, but after that the terrain is more manageable. So much to see...historical landmarks, cool and different rock formations, waterfalls, flowing streams, dense forest, and a couple of great outlooks. I was hesitant about having to “walk the roads” according to the map, but then I realized the roads are more atv/4 wheel drive trails when I reached them, so I got over that pretty quickly. Don’t know if it was the nice weather or not, but the trail was very busy and the parking lot was nearly full.

Lots of laurel and evergreen...streams all over. No vistas but continuous elevation with little resting places

This was such a fun hike! My kids (4&7) loved it. It is a pretty decent elevation gain the first half mile but after that, pretty easy walking. BEAUTIFUL views but watch out for the ladybug nest. Lol That was fun. We did the 3 1/2 mile loop but there is a cut off to shorten the hike. Walker road. I highly recommend this hike. Even the drive getting there was incredible. It took us three hours and that was with many stops to play and explore. Had to give the four-year-old a piggyback ride for a half mile but then she got her second wind and finished like a champ! I would say on the last mile back pay close attention. We had to backtrack on the second to last trail cut off and there was a tree down on the trail. Thank goodness for this app because I’m the worst trail navigator and this app keeps me on track. The trail is very well marked so that helps but still.

Very nice trail, not to hard one spot is up hill/down hill rock climb but there is always a good path to go. Definitely go thru the light house trail neat little spots with board telling history behind it. Be careful around fall season gets slippery with all the pine needles and acorns.

My dog and I loved exploring a new part of this state park! I would definitely come back with a friend or two! There's so much history in there. There were some challenging parts of the woods and definitely heard some big creatures, but never saw them (which I'm happy about).

great hike, well marked. Some really nice views. our dog enjoyed the hike.

Way too buggy. Make sure you sign the book at the top. Views are worth it. Be prepared for bugs. Bug spray didn’t help at all.

The bugs were so bad. So so so bad. Bug spray didn’t seem to work. It was a great work out though. Nice views.

Best trail I have been on in CT. Thankful for the reviewer who suggested the clockwise route. The incline at the beginning is steep and gets the heart going, but has nice flat rocks and plenty of safe footholds and handholds. Wouldn’t want to descend at the end of a 5 mile hike. The views at the top are rewarding. The trail then levels out and has plenty of shade and natural beauty. Bugs were minimal (I didn’t need bug spray) and trail was not crowded, even on Labor Day weekend. Trail is well marked, but I needed my AT app to guide me at a couple of road crossings.

Good hike, did it with my wife and 9 year old daughter. She enjoyed going up the rocks.

Nice workout. Steep in quite a few areas, but so worth the climb to the lookouts.

One of my favorite trail run loops in Connecticut. Amazing for hiking too.

Exceeded our expectations! Good workout, great views, and perfect for our pup. Light traffic for a summer hike.

great starting climb. definitely go clockwise. overlooks are nice in the beginning and the boardwalk in Beaver pond is a great addition! however.. bugs are NONSTOP. Definitely go when it's as dry as possible....Also missed the left turn on the road section. keep an out for the entrance behind some overgrowth.

Not sure I'd call it moderate, but it's a great trail! After a quick scramble up to the top, it mellows out and is good for all levels. Didn't love that a good portion of it was just paved road, but the parts actually on trail in the woods were beautiful. Would recommend to any and all! It was a bit buggy, so remember your bug spray!

Nice shady woodsy trail. I spent some extra time on the road bc I missed where the trail headed back into the woods and hooked back up with trail via a campground site. Nice boardwalk option not far off the trail with nice views. Went on a Saturday afternoon and didn’t see anyone but I did hear other people on different trails a few times.

This trail makes you climb the mountain twice. I did this for Skys the Limit. Pretty hike but definitely exhausting. Very steep climbs you’ll have to do twice.
