The trail that goes back down is not there. If you do it as an out and back it is very nice little hike.

Short hike, not that challenging, buggy throughout the entire hike. Good trail if you’re looking for a quick height. The tower is cool, but the view from the tower does not have the wow factor.

we started our tour here when the park open at 8. the trail was nice & easy & quick. the view isn't going to wow you but the tower was our focus. mount tom state park is one of Connecticut's oldest state parks. one of 15 created between 1913 and 1918. the stone tower being at the summit of mount tom replaced the wooden tower that stood until 1888. the 34 feet tall & 15 feet in diameter stone tower was completed in 1921.

The hike was beautiful, it was drizzling when we hiked and we could not see the view at the tower since it was foggy! The Bantam lake is so beautiful an added bonus!

When I first moved to CT, this was one of the first trails I did, and I loved it. Not to difficult, and it has good view of the area at the top of the tower.

Very short and easy hike. Tons of small children. Not recommended if you're actually looking to hike.

Hike up was decent, attempting to find the trail loop down was difficult. No trail markers for the return trip had us hiking through brush to get back to the up trail. We were able to find the second part of the loop halfway down the way we came. Cellular and GPS issues so make sure you download the trail map before going to the park. Overall felt unsatisfied after the hike. We wished it was longer and more challenging. As others have said, tons of bugs (mosquitoes and blood flies).

Bugs bugs bugs. I always spray deep woods off before a hike, but I still got bitten! Beautiful views from the tower and a pretty drive to get here. Trail could be marked better as gps seemed a little wonky.

Nice trail. We briefly took a wrong turn at the start, there's a section that looks very clearly like a trail, but it's probably from the logging. Not too difficult and there's some great views at the top of the tower.

This is a great little hike that would best be done when the leaves are on the trees and not after recent rain. The trails today were muddy, mushy, and sometimes flooded. Getting around these areas was not a real issue but it sometimes took you through brushy untraveled areas. The trail itself is definitely an easy family friendly, dog friendly trail. The tower at the top is the frosting on the cake. It is a fascinating piece of stonework with stairs inside that lead you to the top. The views are incredible. Unfortunately for me , there were no leaves on the trees today so I plan on repeating this hike in the fall. It should be gorgeous then.

Hiked this trail on a bitterly cold January afternoon. Trail was confusing at points with several trees down...however made it to the tower for sunset. Easy hike nonetheless with a super payoff of stunning views from the observation tower.
