Very nice scenic Trail. But it would be nice if all of the access points to the trail were added to the map.

it's a flat, former rail line, with very nice scenery. great for running and walking

Nice flat pathway. Good dog walking trail

Did 5.2 miles from Pope to Rigg and back this morning between 5 and 7 am. Would have given it 5 stars but it was a bit swampy between OXC and Rigg. I was swatting bugs off of me for a while over that section of the trail.

Amazing trail great scenery along the way it goes 10 miles well worth it.

Great 10 mile path through the woods with a lake, river and lots of nice scenery along the way.

Did the first couple miles today starting in Southbury. I thought it was kind of boring. Probably mostly use by locals taking their dog for a walk. I'll probably check out more of the trail another day. It has to get better.

Couldn't park at trail head in Southbury. We used the commuter lot and walked to it. Hiked all the way to Naugatuck where there is parking right at the trail head.

starting in Naugatuck ending in Southbury. not a bad trail at all though, parts can be a bit strenuous for beginning riders. momentum is key in parts where there are slightly steep grades in the land.

Access to Larkin Bridle Trail is limited! Either park at Connecticut DOT Commuter Lot at exit 15 of I-84 Freeway and/or at Southbury Plaza strip-mall [ Routes US-6/67 just north of exit 15; or along small parking area at the Naugatuck/Route 63 end. Exit 17 I-84 Freeway-south about 1 to 1-1/2 miles by Hop Brook Lake State Rec. Area on right. From Southbury Plaza/McDonald's, turn left at light ( hand signals for left lane!!) and follow Route 67, past DOT Park and Ride and under freeway bridge to Kettletown Rd. Downshift to lowest bicycle gear before stopping, then turn right at light onto Kettletown and climb STEEP hill. Larkin Trail Access is directly across from IBM traffic light. You'll see wooden gate. Questions? Stop by Class Cycles in Playhouse Square and see my friend, Roy-owner. ] It was, as I remember, muddy in a few spots in Naugatuck by the tunnel, too gravely in some sections where the local rednecks with their ATV's ride on it[ despite being illegal] , but otherwise it's mostly flat and killer for mountain biking at the beginner level. [ they did not list either mountain or cross terrain bicycle option, but this is NOT for road bikes!] I should note here that, come autumn, the maples will be in killer-diller color. The Larkin " Horse" Trail takes once though some of the most rural land still left in otherwise fast-growing Western Connecticut's New Haven/Fairfield County. Note: during the summer months, the horse flies can be wicked; however only through a small portion close to new Oxford Jetport where trail gets wicked sandy like in sections. Trail is open 24-7 but I'd highly recommend even a cheaper bicycle light; headlight and flashing taillight. Part of the trail in Southford [ Southbury/Route 67] gets rather difficult to ride at best and one will need to traverse busy Route 67 [ heading toward Oxford and Naugatuck from Southbury/IBM Hill at Kettletown Rd. , soon as one gets to Route 67, if wicked muddy, turn right and follow about 1/3 mile to traffic light [ left turn lane-hand signal required!]. Turn left and then right just before Southford Firehouse onto Larkin-continue through to Naugatuck and Route 63. Trail is maybe 13 miles long and will take you between 2-4 hours both ways from Southbury to Naugatuck. Towantic Pond is absolutely beautiful in fall!

Very nice trail, great for beginners and experts. Only one place that is very muddy but easily passable. Follows an old RR track. only 460 ft elevation change over most of the trail.

A fairly wide bridal trail with plenty of room for cyclists, horses and runners / walkers. Travels near oxford airpord at one point where you get to watch some airplane traffic and also several good spots for bird watching near the water too.
