Parked in the very rear of Two Trees Inn. There is extra parking back there at the trailhead. Some side trails are unmarked, so make sure you follow the tomahawk arrows on the trees if your destination is the peak of Lantern Hill, which is what we did. We didn't do the Woods Trail loop to the lake. The first mile or so is flat packed dirt that you could push a stroller on. Then it gets steep pretty quickly, and rocky. Definitely a "moderate" hike up. Our 10 and 12 yr olds thought it was fun. When you get to the top of the ridge, there are little side trails all over with great views of the lake on west side. The east side has great views of tree tops in the valley below. Both sides you can see for a few miles out. We saw a LOT of beautiful birds (looked like hawks) at the top, soaring all around and out in the distance. Do some exploring at the top, you'll find great places to eat lunch or read a book or take a nap. More trails over the back side of the ridge - we got lost back there for an hour or two which added some distance to our trek haha.

Did the trail and made it to the summit and back with a 1 year old, 5 year old, and 10 year old in about 2.5 hours including picnic at the top. A lot of the trail is loose stone, but very manageable. Kids loved it, especially the more dynamic parts of the trail. The 1 year old was able to do the majority of the trail (slowly) but I through her in the carrier for the last bit for my own piece of mind. Bring bug spray. Everyone we met on the trail was super friendly, we will definitely be back, especially since it is so close to home!

If you’re looking for a work out this is the place with perfect inclines. Go off route and you’ll come across some gnarly inclines that will eventually meet up with the trail.

It would be great if anyone cared to maintain it. This is a sad disappointment for trail lovers everywhere

Nice trail. It can be just a leisurely walk through the woods, or you can add steep terrain and scramble by taking the loop up Lantern Hill. The left fork gets you to the summit quickly with steep elevation. The right fork meanders up and around the back side before doubling back and finishing the climb to the summit. Two little dogs came along with no troubles. I will definitely do this hike again.

Took the dogs for a hike today. I hadn’t been to Lantern Hill in at least 10 years. Back then there was plenty of beer cans, old furniture and other nasty stuff. It’s a pristine trail now - I see our local North Stonington cub scouts are likely responsible! #NoStoProud.

trails r easy to navigate and thoroughly groomed. most importantly, plenty of bags to make sure trails stay clean. some decent views and enough hills to get heart rate up. they r not well marked tho, so slight chance u will end up where u did not expect to

Great place to hike with some amazing views. Not a good spot to go with children or un-obedient dogs

Kids loved it, lots of rocks to climb on, gorgeous view at top. Once at top you do have to explore all the little side trails to find the great views.

Couldn’t see the way to get to the summit of Lantern Hill, although we were on the trail and following the app. Not that long of a trail, but a couple of decent climbs.

Good workout and beautiful once you get all the way to the top. Entrance is in back of the two trees in in the lower parking lot. Lots of parking space.

Today april 13, 2019 , cloudy and some sun, temps around 60 degrees. This hike was very nice and moderate. The hike had nice rock formations, a steady climb of elevation. It has very steep rocky area's to watch out for. Getting to the highest point of the lookout was very nice, scenery. we couldn't see the sound it was to cloudy.

great view of beautiful sunrises.

Difficult to find as there are no signs. Google maps brought us to a neighborhood; from there Apple maps directed us to the Twin Trees Inn near Foxwoods Casino. Apple maps was right; it’s in the back of the Inn. The trail has some steep inclines but the views were worth it!

I started on Pendleton Hill Rd (RT 49) in North Stonington. The trail is easy top follow as it is well marked. There are, however, several large trees down across the trail and some maintenance is needed for this. I was only able to do 7.6 miles of the trail as the final 3.1 miles was closed just after crossing CT RT 2. Would've gotten 5 stars if I could have finished...

Google map is deplorable and useless trying to reach this destination. However using an old-fashioned road map I located the unmarked trailhead on Wintechog Hill Road. I like cardio workout hikes so this suited me fine climbing up ledges and scrambling down rocky paths on the well marked pathways.
