nice easy scenic walk

Very nice run. I wouldn't call it moderate at all though. There is some fun climbing, but for anybody used to running (or walking), this should be rated easy. There some rocks, but not many. I found it very relaxing. I didn't park by the Barn Island sign but went a little farther down. Parking on the right, trail on the left. The part on the map where it is very straight is the one place you're on road - which is probably why it is very straight.

no place to park, no signage saying where the trail is...wasted time coming here

I wouldn't really rate this as Moderate, except for distance. I arrived as it started to sprinkle and at about 2 miles in received an alert on my phone for thunder storms and flash flooding. Decided it wasn't worth turning around so kept going. Skies opened up and trail became a stream in many areas. As luck would have it, storm started breaking up as I was nearing my car.

Only 2 stars because of the summer bugs. But this must be a 4-star trail in fall and winter. Lots of different habitats and terrain. Mostly flat. Great views. Although the trail gets very narrow and difficult to follow in some areas, the majority of the time it’s well-marked and you’ve got room to walk side by side. I will try this again when the bugs are gone.

Was being eaten by bugs couldn’t even finish trail or find Sarah Ann Martin Stone Monument for the DEEP Sky limit 2019! Some shade then open marsh lands.

Deep Woods Off didn’t even protect me from the abundance of bugs — came away with more than a half dozen bites. And for the life of me I can’t figure out why it’s rated as moderate. Very easy.

Excellent trails through woods and salt marshes. Many varieties of birds...A little buggy

enjoyable trail. lots to see. especially old foundations and wells. old cemetery lots of stone walls. lot of history here.

Nice easy walks through both woods and pretty marshland.

I gave this hike only 3 stars because of the lack of trail blazes and trail signs. If it wasn't for AllTrails tracking gps. I would still be wandering throughout the mishmash of unmarked trails. The Barn Island Management Area is a nice conservation area with wide trails, that has a few picture worthy spots but lacks a lot of the scenic beauty I have come to appreciate on the more inland hiking trails. There was an old cemetary I found interesting. Unfortunately you could barely read the worn out headstones. We did manage to get 6 miles out of this hike by extending the trail into a double loop. See my recording. This relatively flat area along the shoreline is a great place to walk your dog, or go for a Sunday stroll after dinner. Fortunately, there were no bugs out today.

We did the main loop. Very enjoyable, cool vernal pools. No bugs in March!
