I intended to do an outside loop counterclockwise BUT decided I needed more mileage. Great hike and views (lots of mountain bikes) so be aware of your surroundings.

The first few miles of this trail are an unrelenting steep climb with segments that are very technical. It deserves the expert ranking. There is very little shade for most of it so be sure to pack plenty of water. The downhill portion continued to be very technical with tight switchbacks, lots of narrow rocks drops, and loose sand covering most of it.

Easy, scenic trail with lots of wildflowers!

Belcher hill is a tough climb. my buddy and I ran/walked it today. clocked it at closer to 5 miles and took about 90 mins. Take water and get there early. Tough, technical, and fun course.

About 7 miles around doing belcher and upper round from the lower parking lot.

I arrived at 730a-ish on a Tuesday and there were maybe 10 cars. Only saw about 5-6 other hikers, but shared the trail with 20+ mountain bikers, who were all respectful and polite. Trail was narrow in some spots, lots of wildflowers, and a snake - so beware! Overall, a good morning hike, about 2 hrs, before the heat rolled in.

Great little hike. Wildflowers were gorgeous.

Hiked this smaller loop of the Belcher Hill trail, by the time we arrived to the parking lot around 8am it was already packed. Lots of bikers on the trail that morning. The Whippltree and Longhorn portions of the loop were much quieter and free of other people. Expect to get passes by lots of bikers on the main in/out part of the hike.

Love the trail, really pretty. Feels like you're far away although you're next to Golden. You can see houses but that's half the fun! Moderate climb, nothing too hard, just rocky. Great trail for running as there's soft, silty sand.

Good hike, dog friendly. Trail also used by mountain bikers. Nice views.

Hiked this morning, moderately trafficked. Hiked up Belcher Hill and down Mustang Trail for a total of 9 miles. Not much shade on the trail to the lot, but plenty of shade on the upper trails. Great hike to do with our dog!

Great slow hike with kids, nature scavenger hunt & lots of little leg breaks

Extremely exposed hike! Go early when it’s cool! Took us about 2 hours.

My sister and I came here to trail ride on our horses. The parking lot is not very trailer friendly, only maybe two trailers could fit. The parking lot was packed and I was worried the trail would be too. It actually wasn’t super busy. All people, and bikes yielded to us as we rode. There were a few very tight spots, so if you can’t walk very close to a bike while on your horse I’d avoid this trail. It also a little more rocky then I’d like. You have to have shoes on your horses and they need to be sure footed due to climbing some rocks. It was a very scenic trail to ride. There also was one spot you had to walk down dirt stairs, cross a small bridge and back up some stairs.

Trail is great with awesome views but the mountain bikers are all in a competition to see who can be the biggest asshole - even for a nice saturday the parking wasnt too bad

My dog Ralphie is currently missing after running off after wildlife on this trail today (7/13). She was on a leash. Please keep an eye out and call the 303-618- number on her tag if you find her! My husband is parked at the overflow lot and is looking for her.

Great trail for trail running. Nice view, pretty wildflowers, partially shaded, not incredibly steep, well marked, not overly crowded (early on a weekend anyway).

Easy. Respectful mountain bikers. Rocky. Easy to follow the trail for sure. 5.2 miles via Garmin GPS. Had a cloudy day but would be pretty exposed overall without clouds

Nice hike overall. Need to really follow the map though as the trail is actually Belcher Hill and Mustang (Mustang was the highlight no doubt) Very nice views and the wildflowers were amazing. Pretty kid friendly as well as my 3 year old made the trip.

The trail was really pretty. There were definitely more mountain bikers than hikers on this trail for a heads up. Also, I would just like to note that the loop listed as other have stated in the reviews is Belcher to Mustang, and it ends up being about a total of 8 miles. We didn’t look into the trail super intensely before leaving, so we were definitely surprised at the length after we were already pretty far in.
