Fun easy hike with a nice view and lots of Wildflowers

Hiked this back in November of 2016 when I was visiting friends. Nice easy accessible area/hike. It's more of an area you can just explore around the reservoir.

Heavily trafficked by bikes. Dogs are allowed, but won’t be taking mine back. Trails were too narrow and we couldn’t get out of the way of the bikers many times. Many were rude and essentially demanded right of way.

Good trail for hiking, great scenery at the top

Heavily trafficked, but a great, easy hike just outside our doorstep.

The hike is easy, it's a gravel/dirt path along the reservoir. My nephews (4 and 6 years old) were just fine for this hike. The views of the reservoir are spectacular, but the hike isn't too challenging- no huge elevation gain or rock scrambles. So depending on what you're looking for, this hike is too easy or just perfect!

Good hike, annoying part is it's $7 to park at the trail head. We're not from co but seems to be a trend to pay for everything here...

Love this trail for a quick solo hike. Once you get to the other side you can cross the street and watch the boats on the reservoir. There are always deer here when we go!

Trail is beautiful and well-maintained with lake view, wildflowers, and frequent deer sightings, but is often crowded with bikers.

Highly populated trail, dogs galore and xc mountain bikers. Avoid weekend outings on the trail if you can, but nice view of Horsetooth reservoir and the town of Fort Collins at the top. Have to pay to park.

Nice Father's Day hike. Awesome reservoir views. Just enough rise at points to get your heart pumping a bit. Heavily traveled with hikers, bikers and a few dogs. Rattlesnake a few feet off trail. All ages 5 and up can make this.

Perfect hike for beautiful lake views, good mix of both ascending areas and flat straightaways. Had some muddy areas especially on the first 1/3 of the trail, but all were able to be maneuvered around easily. A delightful couple of hours.

Beginner mountain biking trail. Not too difficult if you have the right bike.

Good trail, and i could have hiked it no problem having been hiking and biking for about a month or so. but my friend who has not hiked since 6th grade had a LOT of problems getting up the hill once we started going up the steep rocky part.

this is not a beginner hike, though the beginning of the hike was almost like a nice walking trail.

on average it is a moderate hike, with the beginning being easy, and the end being hard.

Fun little hike to the "A"!

Very busy! But beautiful. Deer ran straight across the trail in front of us. Just busy

Great beginning trail. a little crowded but, easy to get to.

A little trouble finding the trailhead. It's a small dirt road right before the left to head up to horsetooth reservoir. Trail starts flat and hoes past the CSU football stadium. Made it about half way before it started to get dark. Next time will start earlier

A great hike going up, with a steady incline. Very nice to see the A, and the view of the reservoir was incredible.

Klaus (my puppy) and I did the short route toward the north end of the trail, recently. The elevation change was relatively easy to manage and the views are good ones. As a photographer, I think this would be a great destination to get awesome sunset shots without having to travel too far from humanity...

nice, shorter trail that gets you a great view of the reservoir.

Known as the "A" Mountain Trail, this trail cuts across the prairie and has a few switchbacks up the foothills. Offering great views of Fort Collins to the east and Horsetooth to the west, this local trail (although very busy) is easy to get to and great for jogging on a warm afternoon.
