hiking

Road was closed to 4x4 traffic. Tough/steep hike for first 2 miles. Dogs enjoyed the hike and we saw turkeys and a young male moose. Saw a few mountain bike tracks but had the trail to ourselves.

We wanted to try some off roading for the first time in Colorado and we are glad we went to Bunce. I drive a Tacoma with a ToyTec 3” lift on 33’s. We wanted to go during the week since we heard weekends can be crazy with people on ATV’s and quads. The trail was dry minus puddles and we only used 4 Low a couple times. The ride down 105 was rough going towards the lake area (which is closed to off roading). When I say rough, we made it just fine, didn’t need a spotter, but it was a lot of rocking back and forth on the rocks. I honestly could have done this trail in a stock height Tacoma with no problems. I was happy to get to put my Taco to good use! I would recommend this for anyone wanting to have some fun.

Oh we even saw a Moose! I upload pics. And I took a video on my GoPro of most the trail and will upload the link.

T-33 crash trail is still closed as of 5/13/18 but Ironclads was fun. The little bit of rain we've had made for a few mud puddles here and there. Good day of wheeling!
2000 4Runner, 3" lift on 33"s

Road closed when coming from the Mountain Research Station side.

Plane crash trail is closed as of last weekend. I don’t have much experience off-roading and thought Bunch school road was easy to moderate in my stock Tacoma TRD Off-road. Ironclads was challenging, and I was very glad to have a spotter with me. Very fun trail and definitely worth the drive from Denver.

You can only make it up about a mile and a half before the snow drifts become to deep to pass will deffinately be back when the snows gone

Great technical trail, lots of fun obstacles and was definitely a challenge with open diffs. Ran it on a warm weekend so the snow was melting but still proving to be icy in spots. The two main obstacles are both steep climbs. The first was a muddy start and finished with a rocky outcrop with a large boulder in the center. The second was a deep ravine filled with large rocks and deadfalls. They both had bypass trails. This trail was really fun because its all uphill on the way in, so you don’t have to worry about making it through a section and not being able to make it back. Awesome views and a few nice campsites at the top.

Winter is the best time for seven mile a lot more challenging and fun

The trail was fun. Did one of the side trails that provided a couple deep trenches and some large rocks..the TJ & JKUR had no problems reaching the top.
My only complaint is the trail is NOT marked when entering from the town of Rustic. Only thing marking the trail was a blank piece of plywood on a stick in the ground. Luckily we ran into a couple that told us that was the spot to turn. Other than that..a very easy trail for a couple of beginners in built Jeeps.

Trails a lot of fun today.

Just got a 2017 Toyota Tacoma sr5 and wanted to take it for a spin. Had a great time. I must have taken the easier route because it was not that hard. I would give it an easy to moderate rating. Great fun. Planning to go back.

quick trail, but super fun. i think it could be pretty hard right after a rain or during snowmelt so be advised. pretty sure it hasn't rained or snowed up there in over a week and there were plenty of mudpits and puddles. my rear license plate goes under water (despite the wake) in one section which i estimated to be just shy of 3ft. if you'd like to see a video of the run i have one up at:

Ran it all the way to El Dorado. Open all the way. Ran with a group where we did some maintenance just after the water crossing and then a little further up. Also did the part down from Caribou to El Dorado which was much more technical. Beautiful fall colors.

It's open! Drove from 116 south on 505 to Caribou Rd. Need pretty high clearance but only had to put my truck in 4x4 once. Couple of shallow water crossings. Once down in the Caribou campground area, I was searching for a friend who was camping so explored all 11 campsites. Some were pretty technical to get to. Not sure if the trail is open from Caribou Rd down to Eldora.

Took out my Maverick on this trailer yesterday 9/14. An awesome technical trail, with many other trails running out for exploring. I would certainly be coming here again.

Great trail! Went up through the original start of the trail in my JKU, trail is a little narrow in spots. Full size trucks won't make it all the way. Need a lifted vehicle for sure.

This trail had some challenging sections, but also had some beautiful views. Be mindful of the rocks, some of them are very sharp. I have a 94' yj with stock suspension and it made it through with very little trouble.

Awesome trail ran it with a stock xj and lifted wj during a downpour both made it with ease, very scenic, awesome water crossings!

went to trial it was everything I expected we only had 4 hours to spend we wanted to come back off the mountain before dark we will return when we have about 10 hours to spin we have not even tapped half of the trail took time for some love making since we were all alone usually Trail is dry as a bone but this time there was rain and we had time to get mud on the outside and mud on the inside

fun with a couple of technical sections.

Great time! Great ride! Plane crash trail took some strategy and a little help navigating. I did it easily without a locker. Lots of big rocks and ledges. I used my tube rear a couple of times. I thought for sure I was going to use my sliders but I never did. We took a ton of great pics of the crash site. We had so much fun! I can't wait to get back again!

We hit this trail yesterday in our 4 seat RZR 900. There are a few places where there are some major wash outs, 2-3 feet deep. Our little beast made it all the way up and over to Michigan Hill. It was our best trail trip yet. Seems a bit narrow in places for a full size rig IMHO.
