We drove out today and the road remains closed leading to the lake. We had to turn back. Just an FYI!

Drove this yesterday. It was pretty awesome. It’s intense and not something I would recommend for beginners. Lots of pot holes and water holes still. I got about %60 the way up before I had to turn around. Not sure it’s completely passable yet. Very rocky and muddy in the middle of the pass. Fun though!

Backpacked to Jasper Lake 5/4-5/5. Awesome trail but difficult due to the amount of snow. Winter warning advisory was in full force. Def a snowshoe territory that week. Trail was difficult to find but AllTrails def helped a lot. Lake was frozen almost 100% . Not a soul in sight which made it so much more attractive. The route to the lake was for us traversing a few hair trails but made it finally and went home after two nights.

07 Toyota 4Runner Sr5 4wd stock: Just did this after a heavy rain. Very fun and not too bad. I made it and a Subaru did too. Rocky but 1ft clearance and good aim you’ll be fine. The section of puddles was great.

Love this trail! It’s an easy hike with lots of instant gratification via waterfalls, rushing waters, and a nice lake at the end. Did this on 5/18/18. Some snow and a little drizzle but so worth it.

Did this hike on 5/18, still a good bit of snow and would definitely recommend snowshoes. Lost the trail about 1mi from the lake, so be prepared to find your own way. Still a very beautiful hike.

Beautiful hike! You hike alone the river most of the time. A lot of water on the trail and a tiny bit of snow, but definitely easy to maneuver. Right before the end of the Big South Trail a waterfall washes out the trail. It’s probably doable to cross but I was alone and figured it was safer to turn back. But seriously beautiful!

This trail is beautiful!! Amazing views. I’d recommend doing the whole thing, including the OT trail. If you start to the left on the trailhead it has more of a steep decline. And then if you come up on the right side of the triple trail, it is a service road. Not hard at all, I will definitely be back for trail running.

I nice and easy hike dog and kid friendly. So going back this summer.

I decided to do this trail because it’s dog friendly and fairly close to foco. The trail was really clean and I was the only one on it the entire time! It is pretty steep, so bring a lot of water especially on a hot day, but the view is nice the whole way up! There’s also more trails at the base and the park where you park is really nice as well.

Follow the trail up to the left and over the rocks to get to the bottom of the waterfall. Pretty hike. Easy. My friends 3 year old hiked most of it on his own.

Awesome trail! Hiked to Jasper Lake on 5/13. Pretty difficult hike as about the last three miles to the lake still have quite a bit of snow and the trail is hard to find or stay on and there was a lot of postholing, the lake was still frozen but beautiful. Definitely recommend a map until the snow melts. One of my favorite hikes in Indian Peaks

I went this past weekend in April, lots of snow somewhat slushy, if you have a built viechle and are in a group, it is fun, but make sure all vehicles have winches if u go this time of year. only got 60% of way up before it became impassable.

the best parts were the giant puddles I got to drive through. with 35 tire body n suspension lift it was up to top of radiator . lots of fun and definitely plan on going again.

Went on 5/8. We were aiming for Rainbow Lakes but the road was closed so we opted for this trail instead. Much of the trail was still packed with thick snow. i didnt have snowshoes so a couple parts of it were a struggle, and I had to carry my little dog, lol, but it was a laughable and doable challenge. We only made it to the first creek then turned back. Trail is well marked which was much appreciated with all the snow cover.
There were two sections that opened up so you get a nice view of the snow caped mountain across the way.
Oh and there's a teepee!

Good hike. Only ran into two other couples hiking on the trail and a few horseback riders.

definitely need spikes and snowshoes. made it up with spikes and post-holed all the way down. packed snow and pretty easy until the roger's pass/crater lake split where trail gets more difficult. arrived around 11:30 and finished before 3. lake is still frozen over, a good trail for wind protection for most of it is in the trees

Was still quite a bit of snow and we lost the trial a few times. Also met a wolf/coyote? on the way down and had to scare it off. Lots of solitude- only saw one other person heading down a different trial. I’ll have to come back and try it again when it’s warmer!

Beautiful hike with a lake at the top! We hiked this last spring. Road driving up is pretty rocky. We meant to hike the 4th of July trail lower down on the road but couldn’t find parking anywhere so kept driving up the road and there was nowhere to turn around until you get to the parking lot at the trailhead. So we ended up hiking this trail instead. Was a pretty hike. Would do again.

Had a great time on Switzerland today! Trail was easily passible in my 5th Gen SR5 with bigger tires. Can’t wait to go back!

Great hike with great views! Our 4 year old was able to do the whole hike on her own.

Trail was pretty cool! Short enough to enjoy, but long enough to be slightly strenuous. 360° views at the top were amazing. Watch your footing on the way up and down as there are lots of loose rocks.

5/3/18
road still closed, lots of snow. 5 mile hike 1 way to trailhead.

Snow covered on most of the track. Had to return from the middle but few were doing it completely. Good luck

This was a easy trail to do with children until the trail ended by the waterfall. We weren’t sure which way to go but was able to follow a path up and over. My 2.5 year old needed assistance climbing up but with help we got to the other side and even made it to the reservoir as well. Very pretty, short, and easy.

Perfect trail for a sunrise.

Still a lot of snow. Glad I had both microspikes and snowshoes. Others were really struggling without.

beautiful waterfall and our dog had a blast playing in the reservoir. pretty easy hike, bring some beers. take a left before the waterfall after you go check it out.

Nice drive. Plenty of places to let people pass on the main trail. I did see regular sedans on the trail. So it can be done, your just going to have a tougher ride and probably bottom out a few times. I did it in a 17’ Forester XT with AT tires and had a blast

What a great cardio workout! Beautiful views. Strong advice here: go counter clockwise. I am 99% confident that if we had gone up clockwise, I would have given up before the summit. I would go up counter clockwise and THEN back track the same way back hill. We did not do that, we finished the loop however, by finishing the loop, you go down massively steep, rocky terrain. It was exhausting and scary. Going back downhill should be the perk of the hike and not the worst feeling decision. They call it a “primitive” trail if that tells you anything. Have fun!
