Short, beautiful, easy hike through a forest that runs along a stream. As other hikers suggested, would definitely recommend extending your hike to the reservoir. It’s a little bit of a scramble to get down to the waterfall, but definitely recommend the trek.

Beautiful trail! Easy and short, but beautiful scenery. Walked up to get to the bottom of the waterfall then continued down to the reservoir. The only negative is the road to get there is a little bumpy.

We loved the river at the end. So beautiful. Other hikers saw a bear but we did not.

This trail has it all... trees, cliffs, water, camping, scrambling to the top. It’s a great one for year-round fun.

Wildflowers! This hike was so beautiful, it could easily be one of my favorite Colorado hikes yet. The hike in was easy and mostly downhill, but be warned it might take your breath away on the way out. It was very quiet. I started the hike around 11:30pm on a Tuesday and might have run into about 10 or 12 people in the 3 hours I was there. I highly recommend doing this trail all the way to the end — so you can relax and have lunch by the river. You won’t regret it.

Hiked 5/26/2020. Very easy and beautiful up to Cirque Meadows. About .5-1 mile after the Meadows you’ll encounter slushy, post-hole paradise. If you go early enough you won’t need snowshoes until the next set of campsites but then snowshoes are a must—especially on the return treck. Be prepared for multiple layers of clothes—warm weather but significant snow on the ground. Boots, gaiters, snowshoes are essential for the next couple weeks I’d say. If you don’t have these things, be prepared for soaked through boots. Even with those things, I wish I had brought an extra pair of socks. The trail is very difficult to follow due to the amount of snow still present. I criss-crossed the trail at multiple points, kept referring to my GPS watch and eventually just decided to find what path worked best. Some boot prints remaining but after Memorial Day weekend snow, a lot of the tracks were covered up. If it’s your first time hiking this trail, GPS is absolutely essential. FYI about Cirque Lake—it is very snowed over and hard to tell if it’s frozen still or not. Better to just stick to the shoreline and enjoy climbing the massive snowbank up to Emmaline.

Great trail to start out with, went all the way down to the reservoir. My 8 month old pup enjoyed it.

Beautiful wildflowers and follows a very pretty stream. Fun stream crossings. Highlight- saw a bear & two cubs off the trail.

Good trial. Will be amazing in Fall with all the aspens. Worth the extra work to walk past the falls to the lake.

Nice trail. Nice landscape with trees and stream. We did the loop at the end and back down to make it a bit more challenging. Only downside of that section of the trail is the fact that it is an off-road trail and there were a lot of Jeeps on the trail on Memorial Day.

Got there at about 8:30 this morning. A little later than I had hoped, but it was still quiet. Only two other cars and a handful of people ahead of me. I went with the intentions of trail running as much as possible, and like the review prior to mine said, the west side of the loop was much better such activity, whereas the east side of the trail was not ideal for “trail running”. Walked most of it. Still lovely. Great views! By the time I got back to my car there were a few more cars parked. Had to park along hwy 14 by the gate. Gate was closed to the lot. I’d come back to do it again, maybe go the opposite way- I feel it may be easier to go up the steeper side than down it.

Absolutely gorgeous but VERY busy. Would recommend crampons just because it would make crossing the snow patches easier and faster. BUT highly recommended. Parking is a pain though and residents can be angry due to how popular it is

We took our 5 month old pup and this was the perfect hike. Plenty of shade, very well navigated path, a few rock scrambles to make you feel like it was an adventurous hike. Plus, just past the waterfall, the lake was beautiful. A great place for families to stop and take a break. I would recommend this hike for anyone with kids or visitors from out of town. Parking was full but we also went in the afternoon on Memorial Day- so to be expected!

Beautiful and easy trail. We went on Memorial Day morning with our 3 year old and 5 year old. It was not too busy on the way in, but got busier on the way out.

Gorgeous winter wonderland hike. Everything was very frost bitten when we arrived. Tried to keep going past the lake but the snow pack was too deep and it was hard to stay on trail. Up to the lake is packed enough but trail spikes wouldn’t hurt especially in the afternoon when the pack turns to slush. There’s also some areas very wet with snow melt running down the trail. It required some stone hopping and mindfulness. Water proof hiking boots would be good on this one. It’s worthwhile though. Parking is alongside road. No parking lots. When we left at 10:30, sheriff had road into Eldora closed and it looked like one in and one out. Very few people at 7 when we started. The drive out and back is gorgeous. Be prepared for a little road construction, though.

Awesome hike with far less people then a lot of the others in the area lately. Plenty of shade with a deep in the mountains feel just 20 minutes from Lyons. Be ready for the hike out; definitely more challenging then the hike in. Will definitely come back!

The west side of the loop makes for a great trail running workout. The east side - not so much. The east side is much more primitive with a less defined trail, steeper sections, and plenty of downed trees. I ended up walking a lot of the east side. Still a great loop! Walk around campground gate closure to get to the start of the hike.

BEAUTIFUL!! Only saw 1 spider web/nest. Great hike! Not super hard. Flowers blooming. Dog friendly

Great trail. Arrive early to get good parking and to enjoy the trail with little to no people. I loved that the trail was next to the water the entire time. Very quaint. Kid friendly.

Beautiful hike, awesome views of the river! Planned to stay at site 8, but the water crossing over the trail maybe half a mile past site 7 was quite heavy and quick-moving, and lots of snow over the trail on the other side. With rain/snow in the forecast for the next day and our little one with us, we turned back and stayed at site 5. On the hike out the next morning, it was snowing pretty hard and trails were quite flooded and muddy.
