Great trail! Worth it to find the wildflowers and waterfall.

Great, dog-friendly front range hike. Got to parking lot around 8am and it was only half full. Took us 3 hours with a few stops for our pup, but could easily be done in 2. The switchbacks to the reservoir are worth the effort - nice spot to have a snack and relax for a bit. This seems to be a pretty quiet trail comparative to other hikes in the area. It does get pretty sunny and warm, so bring plenty of water.

Absolutely fantastic hike. This one has it all. With option to keep going further into hall ranch trails at the top. Was about to turn around at the top of sleepy lion in the large field before the view of the dam due to inclement weather but so glad I pushed forward. The sky went from dark most of the afternoon to a full 180 of afternoon sunlight. The river and dam portions are astonishing.

Great summer trail next to river. People were taking dips and cooling down. First part of trail is a road but then the loop is a great true trail with nice views.

lovely little hike. My 7 year olds first summit. I give it 5 stars because there is a little scrambling at the top which is fun but safe. And the views are awesome for the type of altitude you are at. In other words no trees obfuscating the view of the Dimond and other mountains surrounding.

Such a beautiful hike with amazing scenery. Good mixture of rocks and road. Make sure to do the Sleepy Lion Trail. Will be back for sure.

This is a nice trail to get away from the busyness of Boulder or other popular front range hikes. The reservoir beautifully frames Longs Peak. Beware that there is little shade on the road portion of the trail in the afternoon.

Very nice! Get there early to avoid people! When you get to the reservoir go up hummingbird switchbacks

Trailhead was packed with lots of cars at 9 am on Saturday but there is plenty of parking and space to accommodate. This trail is most beautiful in spring with the lush green vegetation and wide variety of wildflowers everywhere. Two lower lakes are great. To find the trail to upper lakes... find the trail along the northern lower lake along the steep hillside going up to upper lake and the trail will get you there along some steep switchbacks. Upper lake is awesome too!!

This was a fantastic hike! You start out walking through cacti, crest into a gorgeous golden meadow dotted with wild flowers, continue on to the next peak where you can see for miles, then finish by the perfectly quiet reservior. and, during the week, I didn't see a single other person on the trail. such a hidden gem ❤️

The main trail is great. It’s a steady climb but enjoyable and filled with wildflowers. We reached the first and second lakes easily but were unable to follow the trail to the third (going clockwise on the loop). Basically, there was no trail so we had to backtrack. Treat this one as an out and back.

Beautiful hike that took just a couple of hours, our dog also loved it.

Went in the afternoon with the family. A wonderful hike! Forest, flowers, and a water at the end.

good trail surprising views

I love this trail

love this trail was busy today but still not packed manged to add the new professional trail addition off sleepy lion to the dam. it is step but worth the effort.

Very moderate. Not too strenuous. Good mountain views.

Great hike with some unexpected views. There were a few steep portions so be prepared. I loved that it wasn’t highly populated. I went around 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday and only ran into a handful of people. Highly enjoyable overall.

Great trail with beautiful views. I especially liked the meadow. Started at 3 in the afternoon and did not see a single person - had the trail to myself! Definitely take the Sleepy Lion Trail up and around to the dam - prettiest way and a good hike. Some exposed areas and was hot but could quickly duck back into the shade. It intersects other trails I'd like to try too. No time to go up the Hummingbird Trail this time but plan on it next time.

Great views. Beautiful hike.

My children really enjoyed this trail! It was a nice trail for them to participate in.

Great hike ! We started the hike in the morning and it took us about two hours to get to the top . Most of it was pretty mild except for the very top . The last few feet you have to rock scramble to get amazing views . We spotted a bear a little off the trail on the way back . Our dog also loved it :)

Such beautiful views here!

Quite a beautiful hike, with a little peak at the Rockies. You get a little bit of everything, including a beautiful meadow. My only complaints are the dams and electrical poles, which would momentarily contaminate my experience in nature. But this is Colorado and water is scarce, so I guess it's to be expected. Overall, would recommend!

I almost hate to write a review and expose this place. Great hike from start to stop. Love the fact they have an are to let you dig of the leash. Just a great hike all round. I want to extend it next time with one of the hiking trails that intersect.

Excellent hike. Plenty of parking and easy access to the trail. Views are spectacular! Bring your dog!

awsome trail! dog friendly. like a mile up the hike/walking, the trail splits and a trail is for off leash dogs. my dogs had a blast been off leash. great hike. one of my favorites of all time.

This is truly one of my favorites! Very dog friendly and love the water.

Hiked this morning for the first time. It def is moderate as you gain elevation steadily and it is higher elevation the the front range. Views from the top are epic. High wind gusts today. Had the top to ourselves for 15 min before next crowd arrived. Based on their reviews of it being well populated we felt lucky to have no humans around. On way out spotted deer. Trailhead starts at 8780 elevation and highest point is 9786’

Went on a sunny day and got picture perfect views. The trail isn't too hard, but we had friends who aren't use to altitude and had to take a few breaks on some of the steeper portions. Amazing views, wish we would've brought a picnic for the lake. I would plan to add the .6 mile to wrap around part of the lake.
