Still some spots with snow but regular hiking shoes are fine. Pretty easy hike until you get to the timberline falls, then you have to do some crawling / bouldering up rocks. Amazing views. Worth the distance.

Attempted this hike without snow shoes and it was a no go. I made it about a mile or so from the lake, but the snow became to deep. The hike up was definitely worth the try though. Will be back this summer once the snow clears!

Made it to Frozen Lake, absolutely beautiful hike! Lots of lakes, waterfalls, river action, and yes lots of up, especially after Black Lake. The trail is pretty much clear except for one big snow field that is easy to cross by hopping rocks or just avoid right before Frozen Lake. I was the only one up there. Watch for cairns when you get close.

Sky Pond used to be my favorite hike. But Chasm Lake might pull ahead as far as all-time half day hikes in RMNP! I got a late start on a Friday morning and arrived at the lot at 7:30am and there was still plenty of parking. I'm sure on a weekend it will be a different story. Started my hike at 7:45am and got to Chasm Lake at 10am, going at a very leisurely calm pace. Easy trail to track and follow all the way to Chasm Lake. A good mix of trees, river and streams, and even waterfalls. The wildflowers along the trail are blooming too! I was lucky to have Chasm Lake somehow all to myself when I went today, but when I was on my way down at 10:45am the traffic of hikers started streaming in, so I recommend going early to beat the crowds and also the summer storms! All snow melted. You don't need anything besides your normal hiking shoes. Great half day hike!

Absolutely spectacular hike. It hits all of my hiking look-fors (multiple times) except one. The only thing missing is a summit view. It has streams, stream crossings, waterfalls (a lot!), beautiful lakes, aspen groves, wildlife, flowers, and mountain scenery. This is an amazing hike and I can't recommend it enough.

Of course, if you're familiar with RMNP, the only downside is the crowds. The trail to Alberta Falls is PACKED, to Mills Lake is moderately crowded. To Black Lake, you lose a lot of people. If you were to go up to Frozen Lake (which we didn't) you'll probably be alone

Alright hike not many people around
Would be a better fall hike with all the colors

Wonderful hike! So nice and mellow. It was good for out of town family who aren’t used to the altitude. All of the falls along the way were so pleasant.

Crowded but still beautiful

I loved everything about this hike. All the lakes (Nymph, Dream, and this one) were beautiful. It was crowded but still worth it. I would recommend going early or plan to take a shuttle to the trailhead from park and ride.

We were able to park in the trailhead parking even though it said it was full. Several people on the trail. It is a National Park though. Definitely a hike to try and get in during the morning! Moderate trail. Fantastic views! The waterfalls between the three lakes are beautiful! Take your time to enjoy all the sights and sounds!

Hiked 6/21.Awesome trail. Got blessed with perfect weather. Agree w others - get there early. Arrived at 820a, and took the last parking spot. The turn off from hwy7 to the park entrance is bit tricky (immediately past the RMNP sign)

If you like trails with creeks and waterfalls, this trail is one of the best...When you get to the fall (just before the bridge) go up 20-30yards to the left for a close up spectacular view. Continued up to the lake which is another couple miles from the fall. Definitely less crowded... wildflowers and the views are awesome. Just be aware, no tree cover for the last 1.5miles to the lake - take plenty of sunscreen.
There were plenty of young children hiking to the fall, however I would not recommend young children to continue past the fall (no shade and elevation).

Alright hike nothing special
Views are ok from top

Relatively easy hike with fantastic views.

Real pretty trail. Lots of wildflowers (6/21).

Did this hike yesterday and it was incredible! Beautiful scenery all the way around. Went all the way to Black Lake starting from the Glacier Gorge trailhead. I was surprised at how remote the hike was despite having such ease of access to the trail. I think it's because most people go to Dream and Emerald Lake (both great too). Saw many turn around after hitting Mills. Keep going! The last mile has the best scenery for sure. Highly recommend

Great easy to moderate hike, the crowds did not bother us at all....it really thins out as you pass dream lake. Bring a long sleeve shirt, cold steady breeze up at emerald lake

Great trail! Beautiful views, lots of water, streams, fast river and several lakes. Dream Lake is gorgeous! Worth the effort. Starts at 9500’ and climbs to 10,000...not a lot of oxygen so can be slow-going. It is a moderate, not easy, hike.

Lots of fun start early to beat the crowds

Great hike waterfall was fun great views all around
One of the best hikes in RMNP this was my 38th hike
In the Park well worth it

Amazing trail! Overlooks The Loch Vale and down across the valley of mountains. The only part that became challenging was about a mile after the Loch. The incline was fair, but the waterfall climb was interesting! All in all, amazing hike. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Was beautiful and there were a good amount people. I got there around 8:45 and had to walk a mile and a half to the trail head. Heads up that there is a $25 parking fee for the day. Great hike for seeing awesome waterfalls.

Beautiful falls and fun rock climbing. Easy hike, more scrambling than hiking, although the first section is more like a gravel driveway and doable for everyone. East parking lot has better view of the falls without the climb.

It's a stroll not a hike. but it is absolutely beautiful. We went late around 4 or 5 pm and there were very few people, so it was a serene and wonderful end to the day. If it was very crowded, I don't think I would have enjoyed it.

Hiked this on 6/18, what a great route! I would say this is an easy to moderate trail most of the way. I ran a lot of it, if not in shape maybe more of a moderate. The last mile or so at the top gets more difficult due to the scrambles, it is not as intimidating as it may look but be prepared to get your feet a little wet. I went around 11am and had to do the park and ride which really slowed me down but there was no parking at the top. There are still some patches of snow but nothing too rough to handle, I walked over the patches in my trail runners and made it just fine. The day as a whole was only around 70 degrees so it was a little chilly at the Sky Pond. This took me just over three hours but again I ran a lot of it. Enjoy!

Great hike, consider making a loop past the falls to Dream Lake total 6-7 miles but worth the views and still easy.

Nice, easy hike with some nice views. Not too many people when you get there early.

This hike is the reason I moved to Colorado five years ago. I’ve summited in March, Summer and October. Hike it for views or for time. Just do it.

Decent hike, you could trail run it. The views were great of Estes. The lake at the top was pretty, the squirrels were intense , they come right up to you expecting food as other hikers must have given them. I would rate it as moderate if you’re trail running, easy if you’re walking if you’re in shape. If you’re not in shape, then it will be more difficult.

Amazing views

Beautiful from start to finish. A taste of everything. Waterfall, wildflowers, Mountain View’s, and rushing water along the way!
