Great easy to moderate hike, the crowds did not bother us at all....it really thins out as you pass dream lake. Bring a long sleeve shirt, cold steady breeze up at emerald lake

Nice, easy hike with some nice views. Not too many people when you get there early.

Beautiful from start to finish. A taste of everything. Waterfall, wildflowers, Mountain View’s, and rushing water along the way!

Beautiful and easy hike. Left trailhead at 09:30. Plenty of people out there today. Saw both male and female moose just on the other side of the river.

This place would be amazing but there is way too many people

Not a hike for Mountain View’s, glacier work, or geological interest. Kind of boring for me. BUT, lots of flora and fauna. Very tough, long ascent for an older person.

Beautiful hike but pretty short. Get their before 7:30 because it gets uncomfortably crowded after

Gorgeous hike. Hint: get to the Bear Lake parking early to get a parking space. The wind comes in strong in afternoon so if you’re intending to Plein air paint. Get there early! It took much longer getting to Emerald Lake than I thought - easy return. Take more water than you think you need!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever experienced! Spectacular!

Great hike great views and very good fishing for cutthroat at tail waters of Dream Lake and the inlet.

Hands down the most beautiful trail I've ever seen. Mid 30, mostly fit, carrying a toddler, took about an hour to get to the top. We went at 630pm, two hours before sunset, parked in the front row and had the trail to ourselves.

Great day hike and an even better over night backpacking trip. We stayed at the golden banner campsite which was secluded and still very well maintained. We even had a massive moose come visit us. Overall I recommend.

Great hike. Stunning views throughout the whole trail. Not overly difficult, great for showing people the beauty of Colorado.

Trip dates:: 6/15-17. You want to enjoy lakes in close proximity to each other? Do this hike. We enjoyed a two night three days backpacking trip here. Stayed at the Solitaire campground. From here all the lakes from Verna lake n on is accessible all the way to Fifth Lake which is the very last lake on the map. Its marshy and about a foot deep in but if u don’t mInd then by all means head up towards the Fifth Lake- it’s gorgeous!! Lots of downed trees and the trail is not maintained after Verna Lake and you will see a sign that will indicate that. Lots of water and gushing falls. Bonus: a few actual man made steps makes the uphill hike a beautiful photo op. Lots of vista points as well. Very busy trail head but thins out and it’s just you and the wild as you go higher. A bear crossed our path on the way out. Never happened to us in our 12+ years of backpacking. Reminder that this is CO and is there’s very much “wild” left in the wilderness.

This was such a beautiful trail. We went yesterday 6/16 and had a great time. I do have to say almost 9 miles is difficult especially if you are just getting into it. It is a lot longer and more difficult than I expected it to be. The last stretch of incline before the lake can be brutal. But the view was sooooo worth it. I would absolutely recommend this just make sure you take your time and be careful on the slippery rocks if it rains like it did with us. I would ease on the side of caution if you aren’t experienced . This was only the second trail I have done since trying to get into hiking this summer and I could hardly walk last night. But I did it! It is possible and the view is totally worth it.

A nice stroll and beautiful scene, but it was very busy.

Crowded trail, but beautiful views! All three lakes that you hit on this trail are different in their own ways and stunning. GET THERE EARLY. Very busy! Luckily RMNP offers a free shuttle service if you have trouble finding parking. Many families hiking this trail especially with small children, everyone was extremely polite and aware! We spotted an elk, birds, and chipmunks along the trail.

An awesome hike. A great mix of settings- meadows, a mountain side climb, a wooded walk through woods...we saw 2 baby moose! The most waterfalls I've ever seen on a hike. It is on the harder side of moderate in my opinion, as the way up to the lake is quite the elevation gain, but the way down is an enjoyable walk downhill.

The signs are a little off and we had a detour for about a mile. Lots of mesquites but it was a beautiful hike. We saw a total of 9 moose including 2 mommas and their babies. We had the trail pretty much to ourselves. Highly recommend.

breathtaking view!

Beautiful. Good choice for new hikers. My teens enjoyed it. Saw elk. Lots of families with young children going at a slower pace. Went early to beat rush. Able to park in lot at 8:30 am. Not for quiet, peaceful retreat experience of nature. But a gorgeous and fun few hours in the mountains!

I really enjoyed this hike and Lake Verna did not disappoint, but it was long! This was the longest day hike I have attempted (I hike very slowly...it took me 5 hours to get there...) and while I would have enjoyed seeing Spirit Lake, I didn't have it in me. Next time I should backpack and stay at one of the backcountry sites and split it up. What I liked about this hike was the variety of terrain: meadow, cliffs, aspens, pine forests and so many waterfalls! Lone Pine Lake was not that exciting, but Lake Verna was beautiful.

Nice, relatively flat, shaded trail along the Big Thompson. Great rock formations.

It is hard to believe that for as many times as I have hiked RMNP I never did this trail. What a travesty as this is truly an awesome trail with much to offer! Bring a lunch and take it all in!! Just what out for the wild life as they know there is food to be found from hikers.

great trail. would reccomend on the way back to go towards the glaciar gorge trail head (there os a shuttle there) for different scenery. this trail had alot of people. did see an elk sleeping on the trail but people remember these are wild animals and this is their home.

Really crowded. Surprised at the number of people messing with the elk. Views at Emerald Lake are nice.

I began with the Bear Lake nature loop, then right into the Dream and Emerald Lakes trek. It was the afternoon, so it was very busy - crowded in fact. But it was still a really good hike, beautiful scenery, and the lakes at the top have great views, too. I missed the elk near Emerald Lake, but the chipmunks were plentiful and very tame and friendly! Very cool!

Pretty easy hike, obviously super overcrowded though. Tons of kids and inexperienced hikers, but a good one to any first timers or visitors to. Still a little bit of snow on the trail, but nothing insurmountable with regular sneakers/boots.

Well-interpreted historic site. Worth the short walk with kids.
