Dogs are not allowed unless it’s a service dog. Plus there are fleas in the area so best not to bring a dog anyways. Mainly for fishers and families who want an easy stroll.

RunningNo shade

Hot, no shade, nevertheless a fun short run. Saw some deer and wading birds. On the wildlife drive saw borrowing owls and bison as well!

One of the only trails open to running in the RMA area, this will be a quiet trail that presents the Front Range and the Great Plains from an oft overlooked location. Flat for a speedy run.

Not sure why listing says "no dogs", signs indicate "dogs on leash".

WalkingNo shade

I made a rookie mistake by not thoroughly checking the website... dogs are *NOT* allowed (even leashed). Fortunately (thank goodness), my dog is extremely well behaved and the Ranger that saw us (we even waved to each other), must have assumed my pupper was a service animal (which ARE obviously allowed). We finished the short and flat (~1.0 mile) Legacy Trail before seeing the No Pets sign. The GREAT news for those like me who didn't see that pets were prohibited (finally found on the very bottom, in a paragraph, on the "Plan Your Visit" page which can be found by scrolling down on the right of their Home Page) is that if you walk back out back the entrance gate on the road, there are a ton of trails between the Sporting Goods Park and the Arsenal with the same great views of downtown and the mountains. The entire area is covered in wildflowers and the sight of the Buffalo are amazing. I wouldn't classify any of these trails as a "hike". It's wide open, flat, and makes for a very lovely walk outdoors.

wonderful lake to visit for a sunday picnic. there are picnic tables in a shaded area for lunch and the route around the lake can be done with a stroller easily afterwards for a family stroll

It’s a nice peaceful walk, nothing difficult, saw deer, rabbit and prairie dogs. Not crowded at all, passed 4 bikes, everyone extremely pleasant.

Fun easy hike for the whole family. The actual trailhead is about 1/2 mile from the parking lot. At the end, the is an overlook where you can view the expanse of the arsenal.

Didn’t have any problems with bugs, went midday and it wasn’t overly crowded. Our 6 and 5 year old were able to do the whole thing.

Great little trail. I rode a bike from my house and used it on the trail. Awesome view of the front range and skyline of Denver!

Beautiful hike! Bugs were not a problem when I went between 3pm and 5pm. New favorite city hike for sure! Very few people and very peaceful.

Easy trail for kiddos. Lots of airplanes overhead if your kid likes that kind of thing. We didn’t see any wildlife. No shade or places to stop and rest.

BUGS ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE. No amount of deep forest ultra super mega powerful cutter bug repellant could repel those buggers. Get ready for an arm workout *swats*

This is a great short getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. You get to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains while being surrounded by the great vegetation of the plains. During the Covid-19 pandemic they are limiting car access into the area but I only had to wait a few minutes before the ranger let me through. Enjoy!
