Great trail!! We have six kids and they all enjoyed the hike because of all the creek crossings, searching for rock carins towards the end, and beautiful red rocks!

This a great route that offers mostly flat trails with some slight uphill. There is a somewhat steep portion on the K-Lynn Cameron trail. The trail is very well marked and is not very rocky. Great views in all directions from the top of the main hill. Best thing about this hike is there are multiple shortcut routes if you decide not to do the entire thing, although its highly recommended to do at least the K-Lynn portion. Bring lots of water on a hot sunny day as there is no cover through the majority of the hike. Great route in a great place!

The trails are well-groomed and marked well once you figure out the method. Plenty of open space and not too crowded for social distancing purposes. We took the loop clockwise which starts with a nice red dirt canyon with a creek running through it. Ruby Wash trail is the crowning jewel of the loop. You share the trails with bikers and horseback riders but everyone was courteous and there’s plenty of space on the trails. My friend and I had an amazing time exploring this area.

parking lot was pretty full when I arrived at 11am. had to park in the trailer lot. but still rarely came across others on the trail. great hike with amazing views and history. be sure to read the signed placed around to learn some cool stuff. there was a bit of a breeze which made it manageable as far as heat goes. even though it was only around 60°, the exposure makes it feel that much hotter. bring plenty of water and enjoy!

Awesome trail! Very well maintained. Cairns all along the way as well as sign posts. Love the sandstone formations.

I didn't make it out to the lookout as I was hiking alone. I ended up hiking the Bent Rock loop on the way back.

We made the trip out to Red Mountain Open Space for the first time last weekend. There were four of us in our party and there were only a few people on the trial when we arrived. When we left there were several more people arriving but I wouldn't speculate as this being normal times as this was during the Covid Stay at home order. The trial was beautiful and in great shape. Make sure to bring water and know there isn't much shade. We thoroughly enjoyed our quick hike and will definitely be back.

Breathtaking views and rock formations. Highly recommend. Go counter clockwise for a fantastic finish

Apt 5 got here at 9am, gate locked. Hopped it and hiked a little over 2 miles to TH. Modified where we went, ended up doing almost 9 miles back to the car. Beautiful hike but very crowded on last 4 miles; lots of folks trying to avoid the crowds closer to Foco.

Very fun- the Canyon section was very photogenic and on the back part of the loop, there were good photos also.

Two of us hiked this trail on March 31. Did a double loop-started out on left branch of Bent rock, then connector over to K-Lynn Cameron, left branch, to top of mountain, then came back on Ruby Wash and completed the Bent Rock trail. Distance of 6.8 miles in under 4 hours. Trail was dry and easy, several stream crossings involved. Day was sunny, warm but windy at times. Area very scenic, open vistas, red colored rock and Bent Rock canyon very striking. Surprised at the number of hikers out on a Tuesday, a couple dozen mostly later in the day as we started about 9:30 am. Maintained social distancing throughout with the Covid-19 situation. A great spring hike!

3.22.20 - Quarantine, BOREantine! We arrived at about 7:20am and were the only ones in the lot. Light jog, 1:50ish later and only 2 more cars on a Sunday in March! If you want secluded, this is a good spot. I would avoid personally in the heat of the summer, unless you’re in to that sort of thing - this would be a hot trail in July/August. No shade, beautiful red cliff scenery. Definitely be back for more exploring.

Whatever expectations for Red Mountain Open Space that I had were greatly exceeded. Beautiful bright red mountains and canyons throughout (might have been more colorful due to recent wet snowfall). Very fun, easy trail. We started the Bent Rock loop heading south, and once we got to the northernmost point of the loop we veered off and did Ruby Wash - Big Hole Wash - then south on Sinking Sun to get to the parking lot. Worth it if you want to extend the hike but Bent Rock is much prettier IMO. Trail conditions heading north toward Ruby Wash, and then Ruby Wash itself were extremely muddy. If you don't have hiking shoes, I wouldn't attempt. A bit scary driving to the parking lot on the dirt road at some points with the mud, but I drive a stock Nissan Rogue. Anything better will be fine.

2/29/20 - We showed up hoping to hike only to find out that Red Mountain open spaces is closed from December to March :/ We missed it being open by one day. You drive down a road for about 7 miles only to get to a locked gate that is 2.5 miles from the trailhead. But 3 stars because the drive is beautiful!

Nice, easy loop. The geology along the way was fascinating. This area seems great for mountain biking as well. There's no shade whatsoever so mid-summer hikes could be a bit rough.
