Beautiful little loop trail with great views throughout, but we missed the bright colors by a couple weeks. All three lakes had beautiful landscapes and the backdrop of the Elks to the northeast led to some great panoramas. The trail itself is well marked and not difficult. We hiked the loop counter clockwise; the approach to Dollar Lake would be much steeper if done the other direction. Definitely would do again, especially in the summer to fall with wildflowers and aspens still in color.
Easy and busy hike, but totally worth the views! The trail was a little hard to follow when going around lost lake, but well marked other than that. The hike down from Dollar lake back to Lost Lake Slough was very rocky, but a beautiful trail through an aspen grove! This was my favorite part of the hike
Gorgeous views of the Rockies as well as the three lakes. Dollar Lake was definitely our favorite, looks like a great spot to camp. The majority of the hike is thru Aspens which was spectacular at this time of year; orange & yellow and thick old trunks as far as the eye can see. Can be pretty rocky at points, there’s also a waterfall. 4.5/5 stars!
Amazing hike with 3 beautiful lakes. Not difficult at all.
Nice trail with great views. Not too difficult. Went counter clockwise around Lost Lake and could not find a trail once we hit the campsite so we turned back to the main trail intersection to continue. Still beautiful views and an easy detour. No bugs for us. Went part way up (mostly downhill) Beckwith Pass trail then turned around and came back to parking lot. My GPS clocked total 5 mi. Should be able to take kids on this trail without problems.
This is a beautiful hike. Me, wife and toddler hiked from the slough to Lost Lake proper and back without any problems. The fishing there is great. I caught (catch and release) rainbows with almost every cast. The views are very nice. In years prior, I had hiked to the base of the old cinder cone and had very good views. It was a difficult hike. In closing, I love this area and will go back again.
Stunning hike!! Go counterclockwise for gentle climb & steep downhill to end hike. Trail starts at campsite #19 in Horse Campground. Amazing views all along hike. Road is very good, any passenger car can make it. Three high alpine lakes & waterfall, well worth the drive!!!
Beautiful!

Beautiful views for not a lot of physical effort. Easy trail, beautiful lakes and wildflowers.
Expect this trail to be overgrown the majority of the way, def recommend to wear pants as my legs were quite cut up from little thistles and pricker plants. Beautiful day, started on the canyon side and hiked the relentless (but moderate) incline up to Horse Ranch(?) campground. Lots of wildflowers through out the trail. This trail is a mix of shade and sun, especially when you get out of the canyon. Stunning views of the canyon, and surrounding mountains once you climb out. Hike ended up being more like 15miles.
The trail is pretty overgrown on the erikson springs side and there were a lot of horse flies. Beautiful views made up for it! we saw 2 bears and 4 snakes! Watch out for snakes on the trail under the growth, I stepped on one.

Worth the drive to this gorgeous trail. We trekked counter clockwise so the incline was much more gradual. Lost Lake was pretty quiet, and absolutely stunning. We then crossed the river at the log dam and continued on to Dollar Lake. (The log dam is easily crossed.). Dollar Lake was FULL of brookies so bring a pole or two. This is a great place to have a snack before heading on. The trail down to Lost Lake Slough was fairly steep and rocky, but the views along the way were outstanding. Overall, this 3.4 mile trek is good for families with kids over about seven years old. We took our dog and she did just fine as well.
Beautiful views. Made this a multi day camping trip and it was spectacular. Definitely had to fight your way through the thick greens. But everything was great. Lots of water access
Great shady hike worth the drive. There is still some snow pack on the way up to Dollar lake and on the way down to the middle lake. Still a great hike and worth walking through the snow. The wildflowers are late coming out this year due to late snow.
Hiked 4 miles in then back out with my daughter and two dogs...one just a Corgi pup. The canyon offers much in the way of spectacular scenery and challenging hiking. Anthracite Creek was a raging river due to an abundant snowpack. We thoroughly enjoyed our hike and I hope to do the entire trail someday.
