Absolutely loved this hike! The first .7 miles is along Hondo Ave. The trail is steep, narrow, and rocky in sections, but the scenery is amazing.

A nice trail, though unmarked and overgrown. The previous review gives great directions on how to actually find the trailhead. I was the only person on this trail, so if you’re looking for solitude this is a good one. It’s easy and not at all strenuous. I believe the only reason it is rated intermediate is because of the difficulty of actually finding and staying on the trail.

This is an amazing trail! Well marked, not too busy, and billion dollar views all around. Worth every step! The weather can change quickly. Started off sunny and warm, and ended with snow falling and winds whipping at the end on 5/20.

Fun trail run.. ran from start of Waterton Canyon to a few miles above Lenny’s rest out and back. The lower canyon up to the dam is nice and gradual - great for any easy hike or ride with the Family. Some great elevation on the single track above the Dam. Unfortunately views today were restricted with low cloud cover above the dam.

Awesome hike! We did a lap around the lake and added 5 miles and some bushwhacked a bit.

this trail can lead to many different ones

Easy to navigate, awesome views from the tower.

Wonderful trail

Beautiful, easy, popular hike.

Great Hike, low traffic, amazing views

Super hard for the first part of less than a quarter of a mile as it is very steep, but after that it's an easy and beautiful hike. Well worth the first 5 minutes of suffering. The tail takes you through such varied terrain, you start out in a much forest with the most beautiful stream you have ever seen, then on to grassland and wildflowers, walking past impressive rock formations, and finally at the top is just amazing view after amazing view. The trees up there are very cool too as the wind has shaped them in such interesting ways.

Good trail with quite an elevation difference. Gets very narrow and close to the edge during the last stretch. I would like to note that there is a locked gate at about 12,000 ft. right before the Mount Baldy Reservoir, so you can't actually make it to the summit in a 4x4. Still had a great time in the forest!

Loved the trail today with my pup. The drive in is long and very different for this new Coloradan. Trail is pretty easy and the views are amazing. Saw lots of hikers and dogs out.

This was a great hike! The views aren't as majestic as other locales, but the trail was a fun outing.

Finding the trail head is easy and is directly on highway 67, but parking is limited.

The hike to the rocks is a fairly significant incline with some switchbacks. The forest is thick and once you are on the trail you feel completely alone. Some on the trail felt the elevation gain was more difficult than advertised, but if you are in reasonable shape it should be more than doable.

The rock formations at the top are interesting but I would say this hike is about the trail not the destination. The waterfall was pretty anticlimactic. It is beginning to melt but still frozen.

Beautiful hike but lots of people. Guess that's anywhere in Colorado on a Saturday. I'd go back and hammock up in the trees!!

Beautiful scenery! Loved the waterfall. Trail was marked clearly . Will do this again

Hidden gem - beautiful trail along the creek with fantastic views at the end. Loved the variety of the trail.

Great trail. One of the more difficult trails I’ve been on simply because of the loose rock that covers a lot of the ascent. The views were absolutely stunning though and worth every bit of the hike.

Amazing view once you get to the top!

Only did a part of it but it was gorgeous. There are plenty of people but it didn’t seem overcrowded. Plenty of “river access” spots to go directly to the river.

Gorgeous views of Pikes Peak and surrounding area! I started/ended at Rainbow gulch and my app said I completed 15.73 miles. Relatively flat run for the area but my feet were smoked! I will be completing this run many times in the future!

Great trail along the creek with sweeping views at the end. Beautiful rock formations. There was no camping when we were there - check to make sure the campground is open or sleep in your car at the Trailhead.

Amazing.Very nice view. Easy trail. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful trail and a great hike, but the reservoir has been drained. There is a small sign near the trail head that states it has been emptied for an indefinite period while the Corp of Engineers evaluates the structural integrity of the dam and determines what to do.

Awesome hike with massive views of the surrounding mountains at the Fire Tower. There are tons of dispersed campsites and other trails nearby.

Beautiful! I started the trail on the other side of the dam for enormous views of Pikes Peak. Side trails take you to the water. Tons of huge rocks on the beach for climbing. The water is so pristine and bright blue/green. Most of the forest on the other side of the lake was burned. I definitely recommend starting this trail from the dam.

The road to the TH is pretty rough in certain spots. Nice hike up and easy trail to follow. The view at the top is amazing!

First ride on the new bike. First ride in 7 years. Great way to start on a fun ride. Fun ride.

I expected more based on other reviews. It’s an ok trail with some nice parts - the trail is clearly marked and easy to traverse. But beyond that the loop to the left is largely a steady incline for 2 miles that moves along - or near - a power line; it’s not as busy as the other portion of the trail, and I didn’t see one person the first 2.5 miles.

The loop to the right has a nice grove of aspens and is an easy stroll with some stream views but is much busier with mountain bikers and hikers - it has that “I expect to see plenty of people” feel to it. The trailhead to the beginning of the loop has dog poo scattered here and there, which is sadly the case with most trails.
