Wonderful trail

Beautiful, easy, popular hike.

Beautiful hike but lots of people. Guess that's anywhere in Colorado on a Saturday. I'd go back and hammock up in the trees!!

Great hike today. I used my snowshoes most of the way except for summiting the mountain. A few people only had sneakers and they postholed most of the way. Really slushy snow, with a 3-4 foot base in most areas. Great views at the top.

My first off-road with newly outfitted Jeep & my sons in a TRD Pro. Didn’t drive entire trail, but stopped to have lunch & do some snowshoeing with our Yellow Lab, Big Boy, down to a frozen river. It was a blast! And, we had the entire trail to ourselves!

Agreed a very solitary hike - did this trail last week and made it to the intersection between Rosalie and Abyss before I had to turn back due to trail pretty much disappearing from snow (highly recommend snowshoes!). Beautiful trail though with plenty of views - Mt. Bierstadt is visible throughout most of the hike. I’ll definitely be revisiting this one come summer with better conditions for a backpacking trip to the lake!

Great hike! Not hard but enjoyable! Make sure your dog is on the leash :)

Beautiful hike. Incline was a majority of the hike, would have been easier if I wasn't wearing an infant. We went on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded but still totally worth it. I would do this again but on a weekday.

My wife and I really enjoyed this one. Was only slightly steep on the way to the reservoir but pretty easy overall. Lot of great views along the way and the reservoir at the end is beautiful. No ice or mud on the trail and just a couple small puddles. Very little traffic for a Sunday, although it was Easter Sunday.

One of my favorite trails! It’s short and sweet, but packs a good punch because of the elevation gain. Beautiful views year round and never too crowded.

Beautiful. Solitary. Saw a total of 7 people in 3 hours. Trail snow packed and only needed spikes bit a bit difficult to follow. Wish it were well marked. 4 miles in and tracks stopped. I tried to venture further but lodgepoled. Snow too deep after that without snowshoes. Still, lovely trail. If you’re looking for stillness without a lot of foot traffic, this is it. Look forward to hiking this in summer.

My husband and I took 3 babies and our 5 year old today. It was beautiful but much harder of a climb than we expected carrying one baby in a pack and pushing the other 2 babies in a double bob stroller while the 5yo walked. Water still 99% frozen but beautiful still!

Great hike in the snow. Snowshoes not needed. Gradual climb, windy! In the forest the whole time.

Beautiful area especially seeing it right after the recent snow fall Wednesday 02-21-18.. Little easy for my taste as it left me wanting more but still loved its beauty. Snow packed did not feel the need to put microspikes on but slippery in places.

Hiked on 1/15/18 - was a fresh snow day, which made the trail and scenery beautiful, captured some great photos! Although without the snow I don’t believe I would return. Uphill the whole way, which isn’t terrible, but you’re hiking on a service road the entire time.

I’ll be back! Good hike that wore my dog out! Look forward to fishing the lake when ice melts.

It was BEAUTIFUL in the snow. Don’t think it’d be anything that great without the added effect. Fine in hiking boots. Didn’t need spikes. Along an access road. Wouldn’t go back.

Great with the under 5 yo granddaughters.

We went Christmas Day and it was beautiful! The ascent is a nice challenge, there was a lot of beautiful snow out for us. It was just shy of 5 miles and was a perfect morning.

The ascent to the lake is crowded but luckily the trail connects to a few systems past the reservoir so it's much easier to get some separation. The ascent past the reservoir was delightfully persistent; I never felt a true summit was reached even after 5.5 miles and turned back. It was a pretty intense incline which was great because I mostly saw other people on foot. Definitely would go back to explore the back systems.

Great! Sorta weird when you get to the reservoir. But other wise a great trail for biking.

Great views during the hike and even better at the end. Steep incline here and there but nothing above a moderate climb. Not heavily trafficked for a Saturday and those who were there were friendly. Definitely worth a trip if you're nearby!

Did the trail on October 4th. Nice hike, plenty of gorgeous views. Over one foot of snow at the top. Wet & mucky coming down.

Great hike with great water views! Is steep at the beginning but not too bad

Good workout
Steep in parts, but not horrible
Perfect hike for fall not too hot or cold

Simply gorgeous !!!
