Wonderful views and great hike.

This was a fun trail. It has some good views. The trail itself is in good condition, clearly marked, and never very steep. I saw quite a few mountain lion prints in the snow, but I didn't get to see a cat. If you take the loop clockwise, it can be a little tricky finding the trail when you cross Hay Creek. If you can't find the trail, just walk in the direction of the cabin until you pick up the trail again.

Quick steep trail with a great view at the top, would suggest it at the end of another trail.

Beautiful hike to see the Aspens!

Really nice trail with some awesome views. Of you go at the right time the aspens are gorgeous.

An easy fall hike. Nice views at the out-and-back spurs. Take a photo of the trail map at the trailhead for ease of navigating. Colorado is so beautiful.

Beautiful area to hike with some really awesome views. It was easy to get sidetracked on other trails so if you're looking to do this exact trail you have to really follow the map! I got off track but the trail I ended up on was beautiful so I didn't try to get back to the outlook ridge loop. Mueller State Park is awesome and worth the $7 and not being able to bring my dog!

Gorgeous views! The elevation gain is greater than listed here, but I don't have the stats. It's a must do if you are in the park.

Black Bear Trail is not a loop, it is an out and back trail that can be made into a loop by branching off onto a series of other trails. Specifically you can start on black bear (#13)and then branch off onto homestead trail (#12) and then onto Revenuers Ridge (#1) approximately 2.5 miles total. The hike is easy and wide, with an uphill section about 3/4 of the way in. My 6 year old hiked the whole trail with ease and my 2 year old did most of it on foot as well. A carrying pack should be used to do this trail if hiking with young children as trail 1 is not wide enough for an off road stroller. Super beautiful with lots of flowers and views and changes in terrain! $7 dollar car entry fee too!

We only took the Lost Pond trail in early July It was short but a bit steep. Not great for young kids (5 and under). The pond was full of wildlife though- snakes, salamanders, and water bugs- fun for the kiddos.

A casual easy tread thru woods and fields. The Ranch was a nice place to hold out while a rain storm comes thru. Only hikers and rather sparse @ that, one of the reasons I love coming to the Park, you and nature. One of my favorites out of Mueller State Park.

I've written a blog post about this hike @ www.break-trail.com

A pretty mellow hike, with some great views of Pike's peak along the way. The roadside section wasn't wonderful, but there was still plenty to see. We saw a large hawk, a doe, and plenty of bear scat and tracks. This trail has a lot of potential for short or very long version, as the park is spiderwebbed with trails.

16 May--A nice hike. Pretty long for a 4x4-accessible road hike. 4x4's aren't allowed of course. Would've been a nicer trail run probably. Not many tough hills at all. Temp was 55°. Trail was completely dry. I used boots but trail runners or even sneakers could've done the trick.

We settled on this trail the morning we tried to hike Horsetheif to the Crags Trail (it was too icy though). I'm so glad we hiked this trail (in conjunction with Cahill Pond Trail) because it ended up being my favorite hike of our entire week long hiking trip. We set our hammock up and hung out for a few hours across from the Cheesman Ranch buildings. It was a beautiful day! The trail was easy to follow and everything is very clearly marked! We highly suggest this one!!

I hiked this trail with my two little girls ages 1 and 5. My five year old was able to hike the entire trail fairly easily. The trail has beautiful views and is very accessible. Just to note... There are several trails that branch off the main trail head so make sure to stop at the sign at the start of the trail to find out the route color and number you want to follow. I believe school pond is the orange trail 2. Also no dogs are permitted on any of the trails in Muller State Park and there is a $7 entrance fee to access this trail. Preachers Hollow is a different trailhead a little further up the road from School Pond.

Such a fun hike! Beautiful views. Fun change of scenery.

We hiked School Pond. Preachers Hollow is a completely different trail. They are close, but different. The trail was great. Lots of wild flowers. I would definitely hike it again.

Easy hike, well marked and maintained trails. Kids enjoyed it! Good views, quiet. Really enjoyed the narrower paths through the forest, definitely take the trail 7 bypass - less hilly and much prettier!

Well maintained. Easy enough for my puppy and toddler. We did the short route because of storm clouds threatening rain but it was still a great hike. Lots of wildflowers!

Wanted a nice trail to do with our 4 month old son and we found it. Trails wide enough for a fixed three wheel stroller with rugged wheels. Nice views and meadows to stroll through...literally.

Love Mueller State Park as a recreational retreat. Wonderful for trail running challenges. Enjoyable scenery and nice peat trail ground covering.

Easy hike to a small pond. Lots of awesome wild flowers right now.

Nice trail for wildlife viewing, saw a bunch of deer and even heard a bear, although we couldn't see him

Great trails, clean not alot of people. Easy hike for a family. Within the state park, 7$ to get in without a pass. will be back for sure.

This trail is inside Mueller State Park and unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the backcountry trails! :-( Bummer!

Great trail, well marked. Enough elevation change to make it interesting but not a difficult hike at all. Great views and rocks to climb. Nice bathrooms and picnic tables at the trailhead. Several overlooks adjacent made for terrific photo ops!

Great family hike with amazing views!

Beautiful trail. We did the loop. It was a little steep on the return, but the loop is rated moderate.
