Once we crossed the Highway heading west there was a lot of snow and mud on the trail. Little Molas was still partially frozen, but the trail is doable.

The road to the trailhead is closed in the winter, so we walked the road up to the Colorado trail and it was a lovely start to the hike.

I actually hiked 4.8 miles to bear creek area from little Molas. was a great day sunny and cool. Views were spectacular. Could see Purgatory, Engineer, Turks and Sultan. Definitely want to go back.

Beautiful views and amazing wildflowers. Road was well travelled mostly by ATVs. Went with a group of Jeepers and had a lot of fun. Cool mine at the end of the road.

Gorgeous views but really close to 550. Would recommend hiking out from Molas Lake to Animas River instead.

Great hike! Very pretty scenery and the trail wasn't rocky (which I prefer). A little annoying to have to hear and cross 550 but that was the only negative thing to say.

Great trail with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The nearby little molas campground is great!

Starts off the Silverton-Animas Forks Road. Goes up Maggie Gulch to near the continental divide. Mining ruins and mountain scenery.
