Vey easy trail, would not even call it a hike. Awesome view of Balcony House and the canyon, not much else. Should take around a half hour to complete.

Love Mesa Verde and all the places to see!! Great National Park to visit!

Located near the entrance of the "Amphitheater Parking", this hike is mostly switchbacks. Going up is killer, but going back down is a breeze. Great view of the Mancos valley, lightly trafficked, and a lot of lizard activity on a hot day. Should take around 2 hours to complete.

Awesome and fun trail, very different from anything I've been on. Petroglyphs are a little bit more than halfway and hard to miss. Not too difficult of a trail, some very steep steps and tight place to maneuver through though. Also after the petroglyphs there is a slight difficulty hump at the "Museum" sign, a small rock scramble, but an amazing view right after. Great day hike! Could take from 1-2 hours

This was one of my favorite hikes. A moderate loop with beautiful views, ruins and rock carvings. It is labeled by the park as strenuous but I was able to do it with a sprained ankle. First part is a lot of rock terrain, light rock climbing when reaching the peak but flat on the way back. A great hike overall and would recommend taking time to stop and enjoy the views.

All trails says moderate but the park labels it strenuous. For me it was definitely more difficult than expected. Lots of different terrain and some rock climbing... be prepared, take plenty of water. The trail takes a lot longer than you might think. But, totally worth the views, beautiful!

this trail is generally not suitable for trail running - too many steep staircases narrow passages. a beautiful hike, especially if you link to the spruce canyon trail

the trailhead is difficult to locate. it is further past the picnic area than the map indicates and is poorly signed up top. a wonderful, cool canyon hike though!

Nice little hike to see some of the old dwellings and you can enter some of them. Not a lot of parking though

Lots of little stops along the road to see view points and some of the mesa top dwellings.

It seems like it's a lot hotter in this cliff dwelling than the others. Guided tour only and it's the longest tour. One of the people in my group had to drop out after only 10 minutes. Stay hydrated!

Pleasant walk. A lot quieter on this side of the park.

Not really much to see here. Good for stretching your legs, but not a whole heck of a lot more.

Not tons of petroglyphs. There is a little bit of squeezing through rocks and there are some steps, so if you're way out of shape and it's a hot day and you're not used to high elevation, maybe skip this one. I did see some bear tracks in the mud on the upper part of the trail.

Easy out and back trail. Not much along the trail itself. A little up and down but not much. The view is so-so if you've just seen Cliff Palace, which we did so these ruins were not as spectacular. Then, some views of the canyons.

This was a cool hike if you want to hike in Mesa Verde, but we were expecting the petroglyphs to take up much more space. The hike itself was nice though. It is a loop trail. The first half is pretty moderate, but the second half I would say is pretty easy. If we get the chance to go back to Mesa Verde, we probably would choose a different hike with different views.

This hike is pretty easy, and it took less than 30 minutes. It has a good lookout to some of the dwellings.

The tour costs $5, but it was by far our favorite part of the entire day spent at Mesa Verde. My husband and I both agreed that the tour brought everything together and was a vital part of our visit. Kim, our ranger, was extremely knowledgeable. The hike itself is not difficult- the worst part is climbing the ladder.

A little challenging with the rock terrain at times but lots to see. The petroglyphs were fascinating!

Awesome views and great history

Short steep walk and let’s you see a 360 of the surrounding lands from high up.

Easy walk. Was cool to get right up and close with some of the dwellings.

Cool short hike with good views of fire destruction. #OBD
