good trail. fun short downhill section at the end. not too steep for beginners.

trail seems to be 7 miles with easy, moderate, and hard sections. some areas of the descent seemed dangerous.
if you take loop to left you get best views, mini grand canyon like, and then turnaround and return back to shorten and improve safety.
it was 96 degrees so lot of water needed.
also my GPS to trailhead took me to I70 middle of nowhere.
need to enter BLM from exit 2 on I 70 then follow gravel road to left for 5 miles.

A great hike for children. My 3 & 5 yr olds enjoyed it and loved stopping for snacks on the plentiful benches.

Not as many fossils as I was expecting. Good exercise while on a long drive was nice.

Primarily accessible from the Mee Camping area along the Colorado river this is a low elevation hike in the beautiful Ruby Canyon. Amazing views of the incredible geology all leading to an incredible view of several natural columns. This is the desert though, so bring water and watch out for pointy plants!

We are not physically challenging ourselves this trip (broken hand) and this was perfect. GPS said loop trail was 1.8 miles from parking area with about a 200 foot ascent. Plenty of benches to rest and enjoy a not terribly inspiring view but you can see all the way to a Utah mountain range 60 miles away. Wildflowers were pretty. Saw one fossil.

Beautiful flowers and very out of shape people friendly

Nice quick hike and well marked trail. Beautiful wildflowers in spring!

Great beginner trail!

pretty. I have always liked hiking by the water. Strolled with my dog on Mary’s and wrangler. Fairly easy. And got really good view of the river. Lots of MTBs, though.

Beautiful trail. Weather was mid 60s and warm in the sun. Welcome breeze on the ridges. This is an easy to moderate hike with no edges which is very important to me.
Started at around 12:00 and finished at 3:00
The views are stunning! Love the bright greens in the springtime and there were flowers starting to show. I highly recommend this hike - preferably in the spring and fall and not on too windy of a day.
Hardly anyone else on the trail so it is nice and quiet.

Great beginner to moderate skill trail. The views of the Colorado River and surrounding scenery is fantastic. It is a popular riding and running area, so at peak times it can be fairly busy, but everyone I’ve met has been respectful and polite.

Rustlers Loop is a fairly easy and quick 3+ mile loop that overlooks the Colorado River for a bit in one section. It’s generally a single track trail that is also popular with MTBs so keep an eye out for them as they may not see you until they’re on you.

Enjoyed the walk with my dog, saw lots of mountain bikers and had to keep a sharp eye behind me! Still a beautiful desert trail though, not difficult at all and was completed in 2 hours. Good view of the Colorado river halfway through.

Did Steven's loop about a month ago, I think it was 2.8 miles, a lot of fun with slot canyons and a good view of the Colorado.

This is a very short, easy hike, but it was great because there are signs that explain the geology, etc. of the region and you get to see dinosaur bones and fossils! We saw a lot of families with small children on it, but it was just my husband and I and we really enjoyed it.

Beautiful trail that winds through the desert and leads to several river overlooks! It was a perfect short hike for the evening once the temperatures cool off.

Excellent hike with amazing views of the Colorado River and surrounding mesas and mountains. Only saw one other group on the trail. Access roads are gravel and dirt but are easily passable in a normal car. I hike relatively quickly and the hike took 3 hours, 15 minutes so I would allow for up to 4 hours if you take time along the river side to stop (which is well worth it).

This is a great hike near Grand Junction, CO. We stopped here for a hike on the way to Utah and the general Moab area. To get the best of this hike you need to climb the 1000 ft. to the top of the rim above the Colorado River. Take the trail to the West at the junction of the loop trail that is 1 hour into the hike. This is the easiest way to get to the top. Due to the incline and 4 hour trip, my wife would say that this is more moderate than easy, but a great hike for all. Young children (under 8) are not likely to make the full journey.

Gorgeous views. Go earlier in the morning because it does get hot.

took this for my first real mountain biking trail. It is marked with hints for newbies like me and the difficulty increases just enough to challenge new riders. the sights are beautiful! and the trail is a blast!!

I imagine it's a better trail for mountain biking. So so for hiking. Nice overlook of the Colorado River at one point.
