What a fun and spontaneous hike! Although a family could very easily make a day out of Dinosaur Ridge. There is a visitor’s center below, and a brief trek to the trailhead where you can stop and fill up on Dinosaur facts and the history of this area’s landscaping. Continuing up the ridge, the trail becomes more mountainous, and perhaps steep in a few locations. My 7 year old and our small dog were easily able to navigate the, at times, rocky path and completed the hike to the top. The peak provides ample near 360 views of Colorado’s awe inspiring landscape. Red Rocks amphitheater is across the way, and the ridge is near off the interstate. There are many mountain bikers, so hikers, be prepared to pull over and say “hello!” on this fun trail.
