*Repost from June 2019- deleted through glitch* Our second hike in Colorado- only about 30 minutes away. $8 for day pass for car or $80 for annual (pass does not work with Horsetooth Reservoir nearby). My fiancé and I went with his brother. Took about 1 hour 40 minutes (evenly divided up and down), 3.4 miles with 1000 feet elevation change. Lots of rocks to climb over at the top for views. Gorgeous rocks with quartz and tons of wild flowers blooming. Trail somewhat busy (Friday afternoon) but plenty of parking still. Two groups warned us of a rattlesnake but we didn’t see any, though near the beginning of the trail we saw snake tracks on the dry soil. Easier than Estes Cone with a well-marked trail but still a decent workout- especially in the heat since little shade available. The last 0.1 mile or so was pretty steep.

Great trail, kid and dog friendly! It’s got all the fun stuff- views, walking through streams, and climbing boulders!

Third time down. Brought friend and their golden retriever puppy. Was a great day. Bit cloudy so not to hot. Kinda crowded. Memorial day sunday 2020.

Made it a loop by taking the Howard to the Arthur trail. Totaled just under 6 miles. Got started at 830 and parking lot was fairly busy but not too bad, but when we were coming back down there were TONS of people.

It was a great trail, didn’t seem to be too busy today (weekday evening with covid). Took out two dogs on the hike, they did well. Some of the trail is narrow, a bit rocky in a few places but easy to navigate. It’s a great hike.

Mid May trip on a Sunday morning. Great views! And No Crowds! Beautiful wild flowers in full bloom Narrow trail with mountain bikes, have to get off trail to let them pass Had to buy a $9 day pass to get into park

Hiked it today for the second time (first was last summer). The park was busy- had to park farther and walk to trailhead- but the trail wasn’t too bad- passed people but not overly crowded or stopped up anywhere. We had good cloud cover luckily or it can get hot from lack of shade. No bugs really either. Decent scramble at end- not climbing but some large steps and you may have to brace yourself. Good view but I like Horsetooth Rock better as a hike and view. This is probably my second favorite in the area.

Fantastic trail, amazing views. Went up today with my 3 year old greater swiss we both got up with no issue. That last .6 miles was a little tricky with the rock climb but overall so worth it. Highly recommend this whether experienced or first time.

A lot of switch backs. The steep rocks you climb in order to get to the top was really cool!! Super cool hike and the views are amazing! Worth it!

Loved the hike itself and the views from the top were excellent. Trial was very well maintained. We started right after a band of rain came through, made it to the top and then hiked down in the rain. So fun! We got a rainbow toward the bottom as a bonus.

One of my favorite local hikes. Views of the reservoir from the top are beautiful. Did with my 10 year old daughter who had no problem.

Did this hike yesterday. Mildly trafficked but still room at the top for everyone. Such a beautiful view! We went up the Arthur's Rock trail and down the Howard loop side. There were snakes in the grass area but not near the actual trail.

Did this hike today with friends. Overall the front range is kinda boring and completely open just following along the reservoir. Once you get on the trail where you incline it’s really pretty and I would recommend going the extra .10 to go to Arthur’s Rock. Lots of mountain bikers and runners out today. Overall, I’d recommend this. Just expect the first half and last half to be kind of bland scenery wise.

$9.00 fee, restroom open. Very fun hike up to Arthur's Rock, then return via the Howard Trail. Wonderful views from the Rock, and as well on the Howard trail. You get some good elevation for your heart, but nothing you can't handle.

Beautiful hike, but obviously very heavily trafficked. Great for a short day hike and you'll get plenty of sun. Great views, although mainly of the city!

Great trail. The kids (two five year olds) loved it. The trail is wide enough in spots for good passing areas. Great views from the top!

4/25/20 Fantastic hike! Dry trails. Greener than we expected and a few flowers starting to pop up. We did a 6.3 mile loop. Arthur's Rock Trail (Lory SP Trail #1) to Timber Trail (#3) to Well Gulch Nature Trail (#4) to Overlook Trail (#2). Loved it.

Went at 3pm and only saw a few other people, so social distancing wasn’t too difficult. Coming down Howard Trail was a bit rough on the knees but not too bad.

This is beautiful trail with a lot of variety. It has views of the lake with several short side trails to the waters edge. It has somewhat steep rocky inclines. It has wide open spaces and a couple of miles through a pine forest. I highly recommend the .1 mile side trail up to the Albert Summit for spectacular views. There is also a long section that parallels a stream with several crossings. There were a few muddy sections due to melting snow, but it wasn’t too bad. I used all trails to record my hike and it showed that the loop is 11.8 miles. It certainly felt like more than 10.2 miles. It is possible to shorten the loop by cutting across the road from one parking lot to another one, but it would be a shame to miss out on the wide open valley. I saw only 3 people on the steep section, but plenty of mountain bikers in the valley on a Thursday afternoon.

Fantastic trail, even through the snow. It was muddy, but worthwhile.
