The trail had spectacular views of Estes and looking at the entrance for the national park. I didn’t like how soft the trail itself was. I sunk down into the sand with every step. It was quite the challenge there and back with good elevation gain. The views made up for the little faults it has.

So happy we did this hike! The weather ended up being way better than we expected. We had to guess our way for most of the hike bc the snow covered the trail. It’s pretty slushy right now so I’d recommend waterproof shoes! We made the scramble up to the top through the crevasse and enjoyed the amazing views!

Absolutely gorgeous hike! A steady ascent led to a rocky area with a fantastic view. This is an easy hike to do with dogs. There are bag stations. The trail isn’t very rocky.

Amazing 360 view on top of the rock. Make certain you scale the crevasse between the rock to get to the very top. Truly breathtaking views.

Moderate hike climbing 1k feet over 2 miles with a steep stretch the last .25 mile of the trail. Good for everyone jut go prepared with water, protein and maybe a good walking stick.

2 hours in and 1 hour out and that was with lots of stops along the way.

Amazing hike.

Nice trail. Great views of Estes Park and RMNP. Some steep parts but nothing really more than steep steps. Hermit Park is a very nice area and the trail is well marked and well maintained. check on the fee before you go in.

Great hike with beautiful views. We went around 9am on a Saturday and there were minimal people on the trail.

Gf & I are 26. We went with another couple after a week of moving here. Awesome trail, not to strenuous. Made it to the top in just under an hour after taking a couple 30-60sec rests. View at the top was amazing. Worth the hike 100% would go back and recommend to others.

came on a Tuesday...trail was empty . amazing 360 views at the top. moderate hike...pretty aspens here and there. clear signage and lots of parking. I recommend this hike for a short one

Short hike with great views. I’ve done it a few times and it’s never crowded.

Went Saturday, September 15 on a warm sunny day. Trail is short but with a gain of 900 + feet so good exertion. Great views along the way and really good views on top of Estes Park and surrounding mountains. The climb up the rock looks intimidating but is not as daunting. This was first time at Hermit Park but will definitely be back.

Enjoyed a beautiful hike with our dog yesterday. Spectacular views along the trail; exceptional from the destination at Kruger Rock. Our dog needed a little help to maneuver through and up the crevasse at the end. My only suggestion is to start early morning during the warm summer months.

New to Colorado and this altitude but my wife, 29 and 6 weeks pregnant with #4, and I (30) made it to the top in 1hr 30 mins. Was a great view at the summit. 360 views and have us the “wow, this was worth it!” Feeling that we always hope for. Would recommend this over Gem Lake, which we did last night and didn’t care for and was similar total time of just over 2 hours. They’re Comparable hikes but this is far more worth it.

If you need directions, enter Hermit Park Open Place in your maps. It takes you the campground entrance/visitor building and you pay by credit card $6 to park. We took a picture of the map posted near by to make sure we drove to the right parking lot. To get to the trailhead, Park in the lot near the pavilion, you’ll walk past the pavilion and go across the road and the trail begins by a little stop sign. We had to look for it so hopefully this helps someone.

A great training hike to get acclimated on in prep for the higher and longer trails.

I’ve been hiking the Estes area for 20 years. Don’t know how I missed this little gem of a hike! Kruger rock tops the ridge that forms the eastern wall of the Estes park. So, it affords a tremendous vista down to the valley and to all the peaks of RMNP to the west. It’s 2 miles up with easy footing on well-maintained trail. Starting through sloping, sparsely wooded meadows the trail crests the ridge and turns upward about halfway. The trail opens periodically to some vistas. There are a few short pitches that may demand a moderate push but no real difficulty. The rock formation at the top is a short scramble up but worth doing with care. From there you get the big payoff for such a short hike.

Nice trail, partly shaded and not a lot of traffic on a Tuesday morning. Climb all the way to the top the views are so worth it!

We loved this trail. Although it is only 2 miles up and 2 miles back, we found parts of it challenging. You begin right away with a moderate climb. The last 100 yards it is fairly strenuous—especially to a novice hiker. However, it was well worth the effort. There are beautiful views as you make your way along the trail. At the top you have an amazing 360 degree panoramic view of RMNP Estes Park and points east. I would highly recommend this trail.

Easy hiking trail with a few steep pitches thrown in to keep your heart rate up. Awesome views of the Estes Valley, Prospect Mtn., Twin Sisters, and Long’s peaks, as well as the continental divide.

Fun family trail. Not too challenging, with moderate traffic on a Saturday. Beautiful flowers along the way.

Great hike. We started at 8 am on a Saturday and only encountered a few hikers until our descent a couple of hours later. Beautiful wild flowers and amazing views.

Pretty crowded - maybe better as a fall or early spring for more snow capped mtn views. Good trail though overall!

Beautiful and well maintained trial with many amazing views and wildflowers along the way. The last short stretch up and between rocks was challenging for my pup. He’s just over 20 lbs so I was able to lift him over steep rocks. The view at the top is 360 degrees of beauty.
It cost $6 to get into the area.

Great 360 view from the summit...

5/27/18: Begins in a meadow with multiple varieties of wildflowers blooming, winds through a small aspen grove, then into the forest with a moderate incline, and a very short scramble to the summit. A few gorgeous rest spots on the way with views of Estes Park. The summit was large enough for a few groups of hikers to be there and not feel crowded, and the summit view is amazing--the entire eastern border of RMNP. Good hike for kids as it's short and not unreasonably challenging (incline steps aren't too steep). Well marked. May be moderate + for visitors from lower altitude, and easy + for local regular hikers. Moderate traffic for Memorial Day weekend.

5/21/18 Well marked trail. Nice views off and on, spring wild flowers, and nice rock formations. Last 1/10 of a mile you will rock scramble up to the top. Amazing 360 views. Lots to see given a short 2 mile hike up.

5/10/18 Start: 12:45PM Great views of Estes Park from the top! Worth such a short trek. We ran about half up and ran all the way down- great workout! Enjoy.

Beautiful scenery, nicely maintained trail with excellent views. We could see Estes Park from the west end of the trail and it was lovely. Conveniently located and they allow dogs!

The views are incredible, especially after the little rock scramble. I started hiking around 10:00 a.m. yesterday (Saturday, May 5) and was a bit surprised at how few people were there. I had about 20 minutes at the top all to myself and left before anyone else was anywhere near the top. Most of the snow from the storm earlier this week had melted, but there were a couple patches here and there that got a bit slick as the temperature rose during the day. I'd imagine most, if not all, will be gone after this weekend.

One of my favorite hikes! Not crowded on a Saturday, and beautiful rewarding views at the top! Hike is pretty easy overall, but some steeper parts that get your heart rate up and make it a good workout.
