Wanted to jump in lake it was beautiful

As of Cinco De Mayo 2018, the trail is still closed due to snow- for up to date information, you can send message via Facebook; look up St Elmo General Store.

Cute little place!! Awesome mini waterfall to the right after you cross the river where you can slide off a naturally made rock slide and jump off a little cluster of rocks!

I could explore this place for months and still not see everything. It's quite a climb, but the views are incredible!

went to the falls then kept going to the end.

Started from the Hartman’s parking lot and reached Aberdeen Quarry, then crossed the stream and got into the nice single track of the Aberdeen Loop, which was my final destination today. Used the double track roads to go home quickly and easily after the long ride. This route goes deep in HR but enjoyable! Make sure you have enough water to go this much far.

Just gorgeous, and ends at a truly spectacular overlook. However, wouldn't call it "hard" ~ more like moderate.

Beautiful drive!

Nice short hike.

Awesome trail with incredible views! Hiked to Judd Falls and then continued on the Copper Creek Trail for a total of six miles out and back. Great hike! Lots of "cow pies" and a couple instances where I had to go around some cattle but no big deal.

This is one of many trails in this area but not all of them are on alltrails.com. Some of the lakes don't even have names on maps. Remote and desolate. Amazing.

Lovely day for this lovely little hike. We had it to ourselves, feeling as if you are at the top of the world. Saw a marmot scramble up the nearby slope at great speed, nothing to do with us.

Did this trail today from the Elkton side all the way up to Gothic Mountain Summit...Beautiful views, but not for the faint of heart. About halfway to Gothic Mountain, the trail is VERY steep. And the second false summit of Gothic Mountain is basically scrambling over loose rocks, so come prepared. The views are definitely worth it!
Also there are some very deep ruts on Washington Gulch road, you will need a high clearance vehicle for. I took my X5 and made it just fine, although there were some intense parts.

Great bike ride but no guard rails!

Easy hike with underrated views.

Great workout, Beautiful Trail

In spite of a constant descent you really dont appreciate the return trip until you do it. a great hike, poeple very courteous. A bit of high traffic with the SUV and off road vehicles. This was Labor day wknd.

I hiked this Trail on August 4th. It's a scenic trail with lots of great views. I started on the Gothic side of the trail which apparently is harder as it's mostly uphill but the views were great. I didn't see too many people along the way which was nice. The wildflowers were absolutely stunning!

The trail is big kid friendly (5+). I hiked it with my two year old and had to carry him across the river and a few other times because of mud and tree roots. Wasn't a huge hassle to carry him because he liked to take breaks from walking. Lots of photo opportunities and a nice waterfall to cool off in.

Awesome views at top! A very nice hike.

Nice, scenic, lots of switchbacks but great for families. My 4 year old did the whole thing. The views at the top were incredible and we saw 6 Ptarmigan and a Pika.

Great trail for kids. We did this one with a little on in a pack and two preschoolers. The falls are beautiful with a little bench/overlook area. We will do this one again.

Nice, kid-friendly hike. Views of the falls are good, and there are a few informative signs along the way. Quite a few 4wd vehicles and a couple mountain bikers to be aware of in the beginning of the trail.

Love this hike. You can keep it short & super easy just going to the falls ... or a little further to the first river crossing. You can keep going and cross more rivers giving you more adventure. It's perfect for families who may want to start easy, but add on if the kids are doing well. Very beautiful.

I'll plan to go in July next year when the wild flowers are more ample, though they were still decent today. The mile steep uphill from the river to the trailhead is no joke, but definitely the only difficult part of the hike. Lots of water to cross.

I found these directions good: Take Gothic Road (135) north past Mt. Crested Butte for 4.3 miles. Bear right past the Snodgrass Trailhead parking lot and descend into the East River Valley for another 6.5 miles past the town of Gothic until you reach the signed Rustler Gulch road. Turn right and drive this rocky road 0.2 miles to the East River (check the depth). Cross the river [0] and park on the right side, or continue driving on a steep narrow road for another mile to the TH sign. There is limited parking for 5 to 6 SUVs. Cars can make it to the East River (although the road is rough the last 0.2 miles). A high clearance SUV is recommended to cross the river and go up the steep road to the TH.

I would add that the road to the trailhead is on the right, after you pass the Washington Gulch trailhead (on the left) and soon after you go over a bridge of sorts. It's hidden by the tall grass but there is a brown sign that says "Rustler's Gulch ->" There's not much parking on the rough 0.2 mile road before the East River for cars who can't make it over but there is ample parking just before that road on Gothic Rd.

Beautiful all around views. Better to double back when you get to the end of the lake. We didn't see the point of the return route along the road for quite a distance.

This pass was amazing. I had a hard time gauging whether or not this would be a good novice trail. Going up from St. Elmo in a stock 05 4runner it did excellent. I do have general grabber at2s on it. There were quite a few burms that clearance was concerning but it cleared fine. Had a couple rocks that I could have navigated more seamlessly. Scrapped once. Regardless I would have felt more comfortable with additional clearance. Drop offs don't mess around up top but the scenery is worth it!

Coming down into mirror lake the pass is more rough. This took my buddy getting out and spotting. We slowly decended into mirror lake. The drive took around 3 hours total, half of which we did at night.

Coming into the camp ground we had a snowy owl land on the trail, super special! Amazing to see. Stayed two nights at the campground. Clean outhouse and great sites.

The lake is amazing, clearest water I've seen in Colorado, literally can see the fish. Let's keep it that way
