Amazing hike. Did it as a very long day hike, took ~9 hours. Didn’t see any other hikers except for on the out-and back to the Causeway. Saw a couple friendly bow hunter groups on horseback. Amazing weather, mid-Sept is a great time of year to explore this area as the aspens have started to turn. A bit tricky to follow the trail along the Chinese wall, you’ll lose it and find it again if you stay in the general direction.

Nice out and back hike with some good elevation gain. The view at the top is great. We got there around 9:30 and had no trouble with parking. There are some steep areas so trekking poles are helpful.

Spectacular view and good experience overall. Was a little scary crossing the causeway section, and the elevation change was a bit tiring. But Sooo glad I made it to the top for the view!

The hike starts off in a thickly wooded area, the air is cool and the wilderness is great. The first mile is like this. The last 2ish miles are exposed but you hike up to the top of the beautiful Flat Tops. Great views all around. If you’re feeling dangerous, cross the narrow rock bridge on top!

Great hike with beautiful views. Dogs are allowed so I am not sure why that is not mentioned here. Took my boyfriend, pup and I about 3 hours round trip. Would definitely do this again.

Did this trail starting from Skinny fish trailhead walked the lost lakes and crossed the causeway finishing at Trappers Lake. Beautiful walk, took us two and a half days to complete, bug spray is a must! The trails are very easy to navigate if your experienced, we bought a map from Wyatt’s sporting goods that I just stuck in my back pocket. There are moose wandering around, we saw an adolescent bedding down for a storm early in our journey. So do be wary. Overall I loved this hike.

Very strenuous but spectacular views. Trail would be extremely hard to follow without gps and proper planning. The trail split off into several "cattle paths" that led to nowhere. Didn't see a single person after the trailhead until after the Chinese wall at West Lost Lake. Saw no large animals but plenty of tracks and droppings. The Devil's Causeway was very exilerating with amazing 360° views, and is only a few miles from the Stillwater reservoir.

A fantastically beautiful and fun part of Colorado. The trek out to West Lost Lake ended up being pretty strenuous and unfortunately the mosquitos were out in full force, but it was well worth it. The trek back along Chinese Wall was quite a bit easier with even more spectacular views. With all the late snow fall this year there were several medium and large sized snow fields still but they were all easily crossable.

The Flat Tops are a vast wilderness with multiple trails and access points. I will cover access from Yampa. Take the road to Cold Springs Campground at Stillwater Reservoir. There is a nice short trail north to Smith Lake. For an extensive trail - overnight - take the trail south from Stillwater Reservoir and cut left to Edge Lake once on the Plateau - the hike to the plateau is quite steep. The trail is beautiful and provides access to Flat Top Mountain (12345') - the Flat Top Mountain cairn is depicted in the picture as is Edge Lake in another picture. Be prepared, the weather can change dramatically and with little warning. This is all high altitude hiking above 3000 meters. I hid a bottle of Jack Daniels in a stand of Aspen southeast of Edge Lake in 1997 - it's probably still there.
