It’s a long drive to get to the trailhead, but this trail is very much worth it. I took my 6 year old (along with a husband, 10 & 13 years olds too), and he handled it easily. Lots of photo opps, it has lots of stunning views! Well worth the drive in!

Great hike, gorgeous overlook at the end. You walk along a ridge with great views of two beautiful canyons to your left and right. Definately worth the drive and hike. Some sections are very steep, you may want to hold on to small children, especially near the end. Went in the morning and didn't see any other hikers till the return trip at about 10 AM.

Easy walk beautiful view at the end of the trail.

For such an easy hike, it has the most amazing views!! It's certainly worth the drive there!

Fun, some nice views. Very much high desert. I did the whole hike in about 4 hours, ground hogs and giant Turkey Vultures.

Hiked with Matt Tomlinson. Nice, well maintained trail. We watched a storm roll in.

This trail connects up with the slightly more scenic Sounds of Silence trail, which has its own reviews on the AllTrails website. If you do both loops, it will be a not terribly strenuous 5.5 miles. I did the loop using the connector from the Sounds of Silence trail and did not go all the way down to the Split Mountain Campground. Very well maintained and marked trail with many informational signs posted along the way, most of which suggest that conservation and protecting the wilderness is a good thing. I'm down with that.

Just an absolutely gorgeous and remote spot. The hike is short and easy and if rafters are launching from the boat ramp you can get some great pictures of them coming down the Green and into the Gates. I recommend being there just a little after sunrise when the light hits the canyon wall. Gorgeous. .

The trail is relatively easy but long, almost 9 miles round trip. If you are not a nature lover, the hike itself is not very exciting. However, the view at the end is literally breathtaking and worth the trip.

Bring sturdy, comfortable shoes since the trail is surprisingly rocky. A hat and plenty of water is a must since there is no shade for virtually most of the trail. Trail path is easy to follow for the most part but you lose it right at the end. Also lots of cow pies on the path, so watch your step.

Great hike! Trail was a little difficult to follow in the beginning as it winds in and out of a creek/waterway. Trail offered beautiful views. Started out around 6pm and caught the setting sun in a lot of photos.

Loved this hike. Not much of an elevation gain so its easy to keep on moving. View at the end is stunning, sat there for 2 hrs.

did this in the evening in april. we shared the trail with a handful of deer and wild life. my girls (9, 5, 4) loved it. beautiful.

Been doing this since I was a kid. Easy hike to an amazing overlook!

This trail is not 7.8 miles as listed here nor 8 miles as listed on the description in the park. I clocked it at 8.7 roundtrip. The trail itself is uneventful until the very end, the view is AMAZING. There is zero shade until the last 2/3 of the trail as you descend slightly into juniper forest. Solitude is guaranteed. Easily the best trail in Dinosaur.

Spectacular views of the Green River, Echo Park, and Yampa Bench. We watched a group of rafters make their way down the Green.

A hot tiring tails, but not too long that kids can make it, with a little encouragement. Took a 4,5,7 year old, and while we had lots of water breaks (bring lots!), they were able to keep going. Lots of hills.

Great View! Fairly easy hike.

Somewhat uneventful hike until you near the point. More like a 4.5/5 for this reason. Solitude and views from the point make it well worth it though. I plan to return to the area some day and I will be doing this hike a second time.

Did this trail with my 2 and 4 year old. There isn't much shade but overall it was a great trail for the little ones and very pretty

Great easy hike with outstanding views of the combined Green River to the west and Echo Park to the east. Some shade.

Rosa is a really good hike to start getting the kids in the mood for other hikes in the area. The river scenes are outstanding and not too difficult.

I agree with Chuck (Gaines). My son and I mixed this trail with a leg from Sound of Silence and it was a real gem. Lots of wildlife and even a few no-shoulders lurking around. (Watch out!) If you're looking for a taste of the desert without wanting too much risk, this is the trail for you.

Great hike, even in the heat. Lots of raptors to see (no, not the dinosaurs ;-) and plenty of breathtaking vistas. Buggy as all get-out, so bring insect repellent or risk inhaling mosquitos!

Canyons doesn't get as much traffic as the Quarry, so picturesque solitude may be yours if you're lucky.

This trail is hard to find but worth the effort. Drive to the end of Split Mountain Campground and park near the "road closed". Walk around the two closed gates and through the closed abandoned campground to the end where you will find the trailhead. The trail is well maintained and well used. It offers beautiful views of the river. I hiked in the late afternoon when it was a bit cooler. Bring water and wear sunscreen. No access to the river as the trail follows bluffs.

I combined this trail with the Sound of Silence trail. The scenery is spectacular and there are several signs that explain what you are seeing.

it was a good hike from green river campground to split mountain campground. I would rate this hike Easy to Moderate depending on your skill levels. The green river flows right by the trail. Good trail for trail running, evening hike, family hikes and bird watching.

This is a very easy and short hike that starts at the end of the campground. The views are amazing and is well worth the visit if in the area.
