Nice trail close to home

A nice hike with the family. A lot of bikes though.

This is a private trail system for Highlands Ranch Association members. Good to know before you head out if your not a member.

Great little gem close to town. Nice parking lot at trailhead. Fairly easy walking on the packed gravel path for the first section of the East West Trail heading west then gets steeper as you get closer to the West Big Dry Creek intersection. Numerous options including heading into the Backcountry trails if you are a Highlands Ranch resident (bring your Rec center card) or I continued west on the East West trail. Beautiful views in all directions. Not overly crowded for a Sunday morning. Will definitely go back and explore the side trails.

Nice parking lot at trailhead. The first part of the trail is wide smooth gravel high on a mesa. Beautiful peak to peak views and not much development. Then you are diverted off into a hilly maze of single track. I had to dodge quite a few mountain bikes. Bring a good map or fully charged phone. There are lots of opportunities to make a wrong turn. Pretty place with a mountain bike focus.

I wanted to trail run but since I was dog sitting my friend's chihuahua, I only run when she allowed me to. The view was okay, since it was a neighborhood trail, nothing special about this place. I had to cross the road 2x to get to the other side of the trail was annoying. This was just one trail out of 2,500 other trails in Colorado to finish.

This quiet, scenic trail is in the midst of a large residential community.

It pays to look at the map beforehand. There are lots of other trails that intersect with this one.

I started at the trailhead near Sand Creek Elementary School. I ran 2 miles up and back. There wasn't a flat part to the entire trail.
