GF and I did this hike two days ago and absolutely loved it. The Curecanti Creek is running high with runoff right now and was present in all of it's incredible glory. As most have commented, the climb back up is moderately strenuous, but we did it in short time. The map is a little deceptive as the trail leads all the way down to where the creek feeds into the reservoir. This is now one of our favorite hikes.

Kinda strenuous, but totally worth it.

Beautiful views throughout. Beautiful in the fall time

Great trail and views! Park sign say 6 miles, not 4.9..... and almost 1800' elevation gain. End of Nov and still very warm. Wonderful rock walking at bottom and beautiful driftwood.

It has been a few years since we've been on this tour, but it still remains one of my favorite memories and hikes.

Though it's quite a drop, the hike back up actually felt quite gradual. Because of this (and because I'm not super athletic), I'd rate it as moderate. Of course we were hiking in October ~ perhaps the midday sun in summer would make it a different story! Ahh, but it's just about as beautiful as it gets...

We did the trail because it Saïd wheelchair friendly... but in the middle there is a bridge with stairs... so totaly not wheelchair accessible... so we were disappoined

Awesome trail. Creek is very pretty to walk along. At the end you get to a larger lake like body of water with the canyon all around you. Take a swim! The hike back is a nice little workout

This hike starts off route 92 and travels deep into a beautiful canyon.  The trail runs parallel to a raging waterfall leading to a serene reservoir with the Curecanti Needle in prominent display along the way. While it's definitely steep on the way back up, if you're in reasonable shape this hike is doable.

Neversink is never open during the summer when there is a lot of runoff. The trail tends to flood. I tried to go at the end of May and July, and the trail was closed at the bridge. The walk up the bridge was nice though.

This is a down and back up trail, so conserve energy and water to compete the trail. Vault toilet toward the bottom of the canyon.

Absolutely amazing

Easy access for a quick outing. Did it in deep snow. Only saw a couple folks on the trail. Overall nice hike.

The Devils Corkscrew will teach you a thing or two! Be ready for the big uphill. Trail paved with stones in some areas.

Cute trail along the river BUT.....as we were walking hubby suggested the trail be named dog poop trail. There were at least 50 PILES of dog poop mainly near the beginning of the trail. And to end it off near the trash was a condom.

Great trail! Lots of beautiful scenery and not too difficult. Would not recommend this for small children or older people....an older gentleman was injured on some rocks and had to have search and rescue come assist while we were there.

Love this trail! It can be a bit strenuous and rocky in spots. It is very beautiful and strenuous. This is a hike that you do want to be prepared for. (ie a pack with emergency supplies, food, water)

Very short. And most of the time flooded but you can see moose and salmon and all sorts of critters along the waters edge.

Nice trail with scenic views. You can tell lots of animals are around. Decently maintained in the beginning but has no defined end.

birding

I would give this trail a 5 for birding and a 3 for maintenance. We saw lots of birds and enjoyed the sounds of them and the frogs. The river is encroaching on the trail and unless something is done, parts of it will be gone.

Good for a short stroll. You can hear Highway 50 the whole time, and the trail becomes confusing towards the end (at least during snowy weather, which is what I had). I would recommend it if you wanted a quick outing.

Beautiful area with picnic tables and good trail. A nice place to take a break from our cross-country drive from Colorado Springs to home in California.

This is one my wife's and my favorite places on earth. It is very peaceful, please help keep it that way. It is restricted occasionally, so please check with the rangers before you take it.
It is an exposed trail and this region gets extremely hot. SO, pack as much water as you think you'll need and then add some more. The trail is well-marked and easily followed. It is slightly difficult in places, nothing too technical, but it is strenuous. It is a dead end trail with a very peaceful picnic area as the pay-off. The canyon is breathtaking and the views are stunning.
Anytime I'm near here I will take the time to do this hike again. I can not stress enough though to be conscious of the heat
